Internet Explorer browser

Troubleshooting note for Macintosh users who are having a serious graphical display problem when operating in the Quizzing section of this software while using the Internet Explorer browser. 

As part of the installation process, you will choose the "Microsoft" button to designate that you intend to use the Internet Explorer browser to run this product. After you have clicked "Microsoft," an "Installation Successful" dialog box will appear and will give you the option to install a compatible version of the Macintosh Runtime for Java (version 2.1.4). Choose this option. Version 2.1.4 of Macintosh Runtime for Java will then install on your computer system and you should not encounter the graphics display problem again. 

There is no necessity to install required version of Mathcad, determine whether you have a virus, run applied mcd-files. It is enough to access the Internet and call MAS over the Internet Explorer browser (version 5.5 and later). That gives the illusion of opened Mathcad worksheet in which we can change inputs and obtain (print, save on a disk) the results. The calculation techniques (a set of formulae in tradition mathematical notation but not as a program, a feature that makes Mathcad so attractive) and intermediate data could be displayed or hidden completely or partially (sell of results but not the technique).

One other significant benefit of this technology worth mentioning is its ability to provide Web access to key applications. The Citrix MetaFrame product is a thin-client software product that extends the capabilities of server-based computing. It creates a client in the form of a Microsoft Active X control, allowing its nsers to run their Windows applications from within a standard web browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape. 

In these examples, we will show web sites for two manufacturers. These sites are always under construction so you should expect that the web pages shown here will be different from what you see when you explore these sites. You must have the Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5 or higher installed on your system. The Explorer does not need to be your default browser, but it must be installed because it is used as a plug-in by Orcad Capture CIS. Browsers are software tools designed for browsing Internet and web information. Popular browsers include Internet Explorer and Netscape both are free and downloadable from the Web. Browsers carry with them different features or capabilities. As many Web sites now require advanced features only found in the later editions of the browsers, it is advisable to update the browser periodically. 

The common browsers are Netscape Navigator from Netscape Communications (http //home.netscape.com/) and Internet Explore from Microsoft (http // www.microsoft.com/).

The software will run on Windows-compatible PCs, under Windows 95, 98, or NT 4.0. Recommended configuration is 486 DX 66, 16 MB RAM (64 MB RAM for NT), SVGA monitor (16-bit colors with 640x480 minimum resolution), 4X CD-ROM, video card, sound card, and speakers. A Web browser (Netscape Navigator 4.0 or Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0) must be available to access the Index of Learning Styles component. 

MetaCore client software runs within a web browser and requires a PC or Macintosh computer (P4 equivalent CPU or better and 1 GB of RAM) with Internet Explorer 6.0, Mozilla Firefox 2.0, or Safari 3.0.4 or higher, Macromedia Flash Player 8 or higher, JRE 1.5.0, and ChemDraw ActiveX/Plugin Net 9.0. Web browser WebACT has been tested using the following browsers Mozilla Firefox 1.5, Internet Explorer 6, Opera 8.1, and Konqueror (Linux only). JavaScript needs to be enabled within the browser to ensure full functionality of the interface. 

Because some institutions ban traffic from nonstandard ports like 9081, it is intended eventually to change the url to http //cassini.nesc.gla.ac.uk/wps/portal. Certain features of the site require a modern version of Java, but this is not required for the actual BLAST search. The choice of web browser should not be critical, but if one has problems with older browsers (e.g., Internet Explorer 5.1 for Macintosh) one is advised to try a more modern browser. 

Web-tool accessibility. The FOOTER web tool is available over the web at http //biodev.hgen.pitt.edu/Footer/. Although it works with virtually any web browser, the application has been optimized for Firefox vl.0.7. Internet browsers are freely available for download from http //www.mozilla.com/firefox/ (Firefox), http //browser.netscape.com (Netscape), and http //www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ (Microsoft Internet Explorer). 

It is worth mentioning that, although the Web is by definition a visually-based medium, it is also possible to travel through Web space and view documents without the associated graphics. For users limited to line-by-line terminals, a browser called Lynx is available. Developed at the University of Kansas, Lynx allows users to use their keyboard arrow keys to highlight and select hyperlinks, using their return key the same way that Netscape and Internet Explorer users would click their mouse.
