The Exposure Models Library may be accessed either with the DOS EML interface program or with an HTML browser program such as Netscape or Microsoft Internet Explorer. In these examples, we will show web sites for two manufacturers. These sites are always under construction so you should expect that the web pages shown here will be different from what you see when you explore these sites. Our goal here is not to show how to use these specific sites, but how to obtain models in general. We will use the Microsoft Internet Explorer web browser for these examples. You must have the Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5 or higher installed on your system. The Explorer does not need to be your default browser, but it must be installed because it is used as a plug-in by Orcad Capture CIS. If you do not already have it installed, you can either download and install the most recent version from Microsoft s web site at www.microsoft.com, or install version 5 from the CD-ROM that accompanies this text. On the CD-ROM, the installation files are located in the IES directory. You will need to select the proper subdirectory for the language you wish to use.

The software will run on Windows-compatible PCs, under Windows 95, 98, or NT 4.0. Recommended configuration is 486 DX 66, 16 MB RAM (64 MB RAM for NT), SVGA monitor (16-bit colors with 640x480 minimum resolution), 4X CD-ROM, video card, sound card, and speakers. Typically, for BRIO " application development a database administrator can provide a catalog hie that contains the necessary connection information for the database of interest. Permission must also typically be granted for access to the database outside of the normal data-access application. BRIO hies can be deployed as Web applicahons provided the client machine has the BRIO plug-in for Microsoft Internet Explorer. The graphing options within BRIO are somewhat limited for complex scienhhc charting and visualizahon. However, ad hoc queries have the hexibility and power to create custom data pivot tables that can be automatically exported...

Many applications use a browser of some description on the client machine to access the service. There are a large number of different browsers available for example Microsoft Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, MoziUa, Firefox, etc. Whilst these applications all intend to fulfil the same purpose there are subtle differences between them which have the potential to render data differently. It is often difficult for developers to write code which produces identical output in all browsers. A further level of complexity is introduced as each of the potential browsers typically exists in a number of different versions - the precise manner in which data is rendered may vary between these versions. In some cases the inconsistencies in display can be very subtle, for example the way in which special characters such as < and apostrophe are shown. 

Internet browsing provides students, faculty, and staff the means to explore information on world-wide computer networks, usually by using a browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, or Firefox. The browser allows access to rich educational and cultural resources (text, sounds, pictures, and video). This also gives users an improved ability to understand and evaluate information and stay informed by accessing websites. 

Anyone with access to the Web can use STN Easy without any knowledge of databases or search commands and without any training. There is no need to install any special front-end software a WWW browser supporting HTML 2.0 with tables and forms is sufficient (recommended are Netscape Navigator 2.0 and above, and Microsoft Internet Explorer 2.0 and above). However, STN Easy, being a commercial service, requires a login ID.
