Internal-stores model

Gl] J. P. Grover (1991), Resource competition in a variable environment Phytoplankton growing according to the variable-internal-stores model, American Naturalist 138 811-35. [Pg.302]

Any implementation will also use internal stored variables operated on by the code of the operations, but they need not be the same as the model attributes used by the postconditions. Model attributes are only a hypothetical means of describing the object s state to help explain its behavior. For example, you might use the concept of its length to help describe operations on a queue (of tasks, orders, and so on), as shown in Figure 6.4. [Pg.244]

In a similar model, AZA-4 was reported not to modify cytosolic calcium in resting human lymphocytes. However, AZA-4 inhibited the increase in cytosolic calcium levels induced by Tg in a dose-dependent manner but did not affect the Ca -release from internal stores induced by this drug. These effects were reversible and not regulated by cAMP pathway. AZA-4 appeared to be a novel inhibitor of plasma membrane Ca channels, affecting store-operated channels, showing an effect different from other AZA analogues. It was the author s opinion that the inability of AZA-4 and AZA-5 to increase Ca influx lowered their relative toxicity compared to AZA-1 and AZA-3. [Pg.758]

In retrospect, it should not be surprising that a time independent theory modeled after elasticity theory does not apply to a plastic flow process. Elastic deformation is conservative with the work done on the material stored as elastic strain energy. Plastic deformation is non-conservative with the work done on the material dissipated as heat, or converted into internal defects... [Pg.12]

Similarly, we could model a video store as one large-grained object—an external view or we could describe internal roles and interactions, such as the store clerk, the stockkeeper, the manager, and the video system—an internal view. We illustrate two levels of action abstraction in this chapter the object granularity will be refined later, when we define the system context and user roles. [Pg.591]

When the commercial OMA (Model 1205, Princeton Applied Research Corporation, Princeton, NJ) became available, we recognized its potential as a replacement for the photomultiplier detector. The vidicon detector surface was divided into 500 channels, the image could be seen on a cathode ray tube (CRT) monitor in real time, the intensity profile was available in digital form, the profile could be time-averaged for any desired number of video scans, and the final profile was stored in internal memory for transfer to an external output device. Not only had a considerable amount of work gone into its development and the verification of performance, but its potential for use for a variety of physical techniques would ensure the construction of enough units to support further development of the system. Moreover the need for low-light-level detectors for other purposes would lead to further improvements in detector devices. [Pg.322]
