Environment variables

You must execute the Gaussian 94 initialization file included with the program in order to run it. This file sets the values of some environment variables (UNIX) or logical names (VMS) needed by the program. Usually, this file is executed from within your user initialization file (i.e.,. login,. profile, or LOGIN.COM, as appropriate), although you can also run the commands by hand. 

Have a look at the file INSTALL, distributed with the Vienna RNA Package, for more detail or read documentation on the web. Wherever you install the main programs of the Vienna RNA Package, make sure the path to the executables shows up in your path environment variable. For the purposes of this tutorial, it is assumed that a UNIX-like computing environment (e.g., Linux, Mac OS X, or Cygwin on Microsoft Windows) is being used. All software distributions listed in Table 1 should be downloaded and compiled. Compiled binaries should all be made available through the PATH environment variable. 

The script uses Perl and ClustalW. If it fails to execute correctly, make sure these packages are installed on the machine, and are accessible from the command-line. In Unix, this may involve adding the directories that contain the ClustalW and Perl executables to the PATH environment variable. To install NCBI blast on windows, create a new folder (e.g., c Program Files blast) and download the blast-2. -win32.exe file from ftp //ftp.ncbi.nih.gov/ blast. Within the new folder, double click on the blast-2. - Win32. exe file, which extracts the programs and data. Add the bin subdirectory to the Path right-click My computer , then click Properties . Select Advanced/ Environment variables/New . Add the complete path of the blast bin directory to the variable Path, use as separator. 

To run the Perl programs, install the Perl interpreter from www.activestate.com. Choose the latest ActivePerl MSI installer package for Windows and simply follow the installation instructions. Be sure to selecte the Add Perl to the PATH environment variable and Create Perl file extension association options during installation. 

Type 304 stainless steel is basically an alloy of 18 to 19 wt% Cr and 8 to 10 wt% Ni. Its corrosion behavior in sulfuric acid is sensitive to both alloy composition and the sulfuric acid environment. Variables with respect to alloy composition include whether the Cr and Ni concentrations are high or low within the allowed range and the concentrations of residual elements such as sulfur, phosphorus, copper, and molybdenum. Thermal and mechanical treatments are also variables but are not considered in the following. Please note that when a new directory is added to the PATH environment variable, the semicolinnn must be included before specifying the new directory. 

After having changed the PATH environment variable, you must restart the computer. At the next machine start, you can use BzzMath exe programs and/ or the BzzMathTutorial. pps file, placed into the directory DIRECTORY BzzMath BzzMathTutorial.
