Internal-external-burning

The seeds are hot, tonic, antipyretic, anthelmintic, astringent to the bowels, cure leprosy, vata, vomiting, bronchitis, piles, remove bad taste from the mouth and are useful in heart disease (Ayurveda). In Unani medicine, the plants and seeds are considered to be suppurative, aperient, diuretic, emmenagogue and useful in dropsy and chronic cough. The leaves are useful in external and internal swelling, burns and prevent hair falling out (Kirtikar and Basu, 1984). [Pg.251]

Whilst quickmatch can be used to form simple fuses for fireworks, both internally and externally, a burning time of some 40 sm is too long in instances when a more or less instantaneous ignition is required. Also, quickmatch is rather fragile and tends to kink or lose powder unless it is coated in some way. [Pg.126]

Taffanel held the view that the limit of propagation is caused by the existence of thermal losses and that, as a result, a certain minimum chemical reaction rate is required in order for combustion to occur. He further showed that under certain instrumental conditions, as the initial temperature is raised, increasingly diluted mixtures are capable of burning, and that in all the cases at the limit the combustion temperatures are practically the same. We have no information on the external reasons why Taffanel s work stopped. The internal, fundamental reasons which prevented him from developing an orderly and complete theory of combustion processes lay in the undeveloped... [Pg.180]

Inflammation of the respiratory organs and internal membranes generally. One ounce of herb in 1 1/2 pints of water simmered down to 1 pint. Dose, wineglassful every two or three hours. Used externally as a poultice for inflamed surfaces, boils, burns and skin eruptions. [Pg.33]

Fire-Safe Valves that handle flammable fluids may have additional safety-related requirements for minimal external leakage, minimal internal (downstream) leakage, and operability during and after a fire. Being fire-safe does not mean being totally impervious to fire, but a sample valve must meet particular specifications such as American Petroleum Institute (API) 607, Factory Mutual Research Corp. (FM) 7440, or the British Standard 5146 under a simulated fire test. Due to very high flame temperature, metal seating (either primary or as a backup to a burned-out elastomer) is mandatory. [Pg.604]
