Inspections disability

Awakened for breakfast. Slow in getting up. Appetite good. Said Everything okay Was I combative Can I see the TV films I was televised, wasn t I I can remember standing inspection without my boots on. I had the General all snowed that I had a physical disability to allow me to go without shoes. Then someone came up and squealed on me - he and I had a fight. ... [Pg.94]

Homeland Security Act, Title XI, Subtide C contains the Safe Explosives Act [130]. The Act is designed to heighten security for explosive materials by requiring all persons desiring to obtain explosives, for any use, to possess a federal permit or hcense [131]. The Safe Explosives Act [132] addresses procedures and requirements in the following areas permits (Sect. 1122(a)—(e)) inspections (Sect. 1122(f)—(g)) background checks and clearances (Sect. 1122(h)) prohibitions on distribution and possession (Sect. 1123) required samples (Sect. 1124) reheffrom disabilities (Sect. 1126) theft report requirements (Sect. 1127) and authorization for appropriations (Sect. 1128). [Pg.266]

GHJCOSE 1D H GH 013001.FID. Note the baseline artifacts introduced by the truncated FID. In the Linear Prediction (LP) dialog box make sure that the Execute Backward LP option is enabled and the Execute Forward LP option disabled. Set LP backward to Point to 124. Following the rules given above vary the residual parameters First Point used for LP (recommended 196), Last Point used for for LP (recommended 2047) and Number of Coefficients (recommended 128 or larger). Carefully inspect the resulting spectra with respect to spectral resolution and signal shapes and compare it with the spectrum obtained without LP. [Pg.194]

In many circumstances, the supplied system will be based on a standard COTS product and include additional features that are superfluous in the intended context. These features cannot normally be disabled because they are integral to the COTS product. Such redundant features should be included in the Functional Specification, noted as superfluous and, if possible, rendered inaccessible to users within the implemented computer system. Standard features that support compliance, such as audit trails for electronic records, should be used even if not defined within the URS. In such circumstances it may be necessary to make additional design allowances for the inclusion of these features (e.g., for audit trail functionality, extra storage capacity may be required). Standard documentation for COTS products can be referenced by the Fnnctional Specification, if available for inspection, rather than reproduced. Care must be taken to refer to the correct version of COTS documentation and to keep cross-references up to date following any system upgrades. [Pg.182]

Figure D-13 shows a Markov model with two failure states. Assume that the system being modeled is a single channel (lool) system and that all failures in state 1 are immediately recognized. Failures in state 2 are not immediately recognized. They are repaired only after a periodic inspection. If it is assumed that the average inspection and repair time is two hours, the transition probability between state 2 and state 0 can be modeled with by changing the transition matrix as a deterministic function of time. If the system is disabled during the periodic inspection and test, the probability of being in state 2 equals one for that time period. After the inspection and test, the probability of being in state 0 equals one if the inspection, test and repair process is perfect. The transition matrix to be used between inspections is also shown in Figure D-13. Figure D-13 shows a Markov model with two failure states. When a periodic inspection, test and repair procedure takes a significant amount of time, the time period may have an effect on the probability of failure. This is not an issue when the safety instrumented system remains on-line and capable of responding to a demand. But if the system must be placed in bypass for the time period when the test is run, that may be important. Fortunately, this can also easily be modeled with a discrete time matrix Markov model. At the beginning of the inspection, test and repair period an alternative P matrix is used which assigns the probability of failure in state 3 to "1." This represents the situation where the system is disabled during the test. The matrix used during the test period would be ... [Pg.364]

The opposite is true, since the probabilistic safety analyses addressing this problem have concluded that a large part of the risk of a nuclear plant is related to plant situations of shutdown or low power. A plant is shutdown for inspection and periodic maintenance, and often safety systems are disabled, the containment opened, and unusual operations are performed which decrease the usual defences, so that accidents are possible which could not happen in other conditions. [Pg.239]

ARRs derived from a bond graph of a hybrid system model contain discrete switch state variables. Depending on their values, i.e. depending on the system mode, some parts of the ARRs are disabled. An inspection of ARRs derived from a bond graph of a hybrid system model thus shows which component parameters affect which residuals in which system mode. This information may be expressed in an all-mode... [Pg.75]

Two points are deduced for each serious deviation from standards that could result in one disabling injury or significant property damage or repeat violation from previous inspection. [Pg.549]

A further study analysed both fatality and disabling injury rates across all mines in the period 1973-75 and found that when other relevant factors were controlled both of these indicators were inversely related to the frequency of inspection. The study s author concluded that increasing inspections by 25 per cent would have produced a 13 per cent decline in fatal accidents and an 18 per cent decline in disabling accidents (Boden 1985, p. 497). [Pg.87]

Whenever the inadvertent or unauthorized starting of a piece of driven equipment will create a hazard for inspection or maintenance personnel, it is important to disable that equipment while work is being performed. The hazard might be strictly mechanical, as in contact with rotating machinery, or partly chemical, as in a release caused by the pressure developed by a pump or compressor. [Pg.224]

Voor and co-workers constructed a Raman microprobe around an existing microscope and Raman spectrograph [5]. The system is suitable for undergraduate research and is also used in advanced materials science instruction. The system is assembled from a small argon ion laser and an epi-illumination microscope designed for materials inspection. The instrument design, shown in Fig, 1, is straightforward and could be built by most chemistry or physics faculty members. Instructors who intend to build their own Raman microprobes should remember to remove or to disable and cover the binocular eyepieces that are components of most microscopes. [Pg.1007]

T Tools. Hand tools are widely used and account for about 7 per cent of notifiable accidents. Very few are fatal, but in many cases the accidents are disabling and may result in permanent damage to the person involved. Hammers, chisels, knives, screwdrivers, scalpels, etc., are common causes of injury. Inspection of toolkits should be high on the list of priorities when visiting workplaces. [Pg.156]

In the Ofsted (2005b) Framework for the Inspection of Children s Services, a set of subsidiary outcome measures are provided for each one, pins a number of key judgements. The latter includes a particular focus on more vnlnerable children and young people who may require additional support to attain the specified outcomes for example, children who are in the care of social services ( looked after ) and/or are designated as having learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Box 2.2 provides an example of the above for the first of the five major outcomes being healthy . [Pg.26]
