Systemic insecticides

Endolytic Insecticides Systemic insecticides remaining in their original form until decomposed by the biological system. 

C,4Hi2FN20P, (Me2N)2P(0)F. An extremely poisonous, persistent, systemic insecticide, which is usually supplied to the roots of plants. 

Me0>2P(0)0CMe = CHC02Me. A trade name for a highly active systemic insecticide both CIS and trans isomers are active. 

The flexibility of the bulk blending system and the close relationship with the farmer allow the bulk blender to provide a number of valuable supplementary services, such as adding herbicides, insecticides, micronutrients, or seeds to the blends bagging blends liming and sampling soil. Consultation services and custom appHcation can also be provided as can sale of anhydrous ammonia or nitrogen solution. 

In agriculture, the average benefit/cost ratio from insecticide use ranges from 3 to 5 return for every 1 invested by the farmer(s). There are many examples where the return is much greater. Carbamate Insecticides. These are stmcturaUy optimi2ed derivatives of the unique plant alkaloid physostigmine [57-47-6] a cholinergic dmg isolated in 1864 from Phjsostigma venenosum (see Alkaloids) (17,24,35—39). The carbamates maybe considered synthetic derivatives of the synaptic neurotransmitter acetylcholine, with very low turnover numbers. The A/,A/-dimethylcarbamates of heterocycHc enols (36) and the Ai-methylcarbamates of a variety of substituted phenols (35) with a wide range of insecticidal activity were described in 1954 (35). The latter are the most widely used carbamate insecticides, and the A/-methylcatbamates of oximes have subsequentiy been found to be effective systemic insecticides. 

When drying catde hides in tropical arid climates, the hides are scraped clean of desh, then stretched on racks, and dried slowly in the shade. An apphcation of an insecticide may be used. This method is slow, labor intensive, and unreHable for heavy hides. The system is only used in mral tropical areas and is not appHcable to modem commercial catde hide production (3). 

Pesticide Solvent. The majority of organic fungicides, insecticides, and herbicides (qv) are soluble in DMSO, including such difficult-to-solvate materials as the substituted ureas and carbamates (see Fungicides, agricultural Insect control technology Pesticides). Dimethyl sulfoxide forms cosolvent systems of enhanced solubiUty properties with many solvents (109). 

Uses. Tballium compounds have limited use in industrial appHcations. The use of thaHous sulfate in rodenticides and insecticides has been replaced by other compounds less harmful to animals (see Insect control technology Pesticides). Tb allium sulfide has been used in photoelectric cells (see Photovoltaic cells). A thallium bromide—thallium iodide mixture is used to transmit infrared radiation for signal systems. ThaHous oxide is used in the manufacture of glass (qv) that has a high coefficient of refraction. Tb allium formate—malonate aqueous solutions (Cletici s solution) have been used in mineral separations.
