Influence of thickness

The next important stage in the development of porous gas-diffusion electrode is an investigation of influence of thickness of PANI layer (or more easy controlled parameters like PANI mass or electrochemical capacity) on the local currents of O2 electroreduction (table 3). [Pg.117]

Figure 70 Influence of thickness of the anodic (75% TPD PC) (a) and cathodic (Alq3) (b) layers (HTL and ETL, respectively), given in the figure, on the j(F) characteristics of the DL LEDs ITO/75% TPD PC/Alq3/Mg/Ag. The low-field (Sx) and high-field (S2) slopes differ in general except for the thinnest layers (35 nm). The thickness of the ETL (60 nm) and HTL (60 nm) were kept constant in panel (a) and (b), respectively. After Ref. 303. Copyright 2001 Institute of Physics (GB). It can be assumed that coatings formed from lower crystallinity particles exhibit low residual stress because feedstock also has inherent porosity that would tend to relieve process-induced stresses. A comparison of the high velocity oxy-fuel and plasma spray processes has revealed that the residual stress is lower in the former process (Knowles et al. 1996). Heat treatment at temperatures of 800°C can minimize these process-induced stresses (Brown et al. 1994). Despite the large influence of thickness on coating strength, no difference in bone apposition has been found for 50 pm and 100 pm coatings. [Pg.650]

Influence of Thickness of Oil Layer on Adhesion. Atmospheric dust generally contains not only solid particles, but also oily contaminants, which settle on surfaces and make the surfaces oily. Also, the surfaces of some objects such as motor vehicles may become oily in the operating process. It has been found that 17% of the adherent particles on the surfaces of motor vehicles operating in Moscow do have such a layer of oil. Roughly the same results were obtained in an analysis reported in [234] on the contaminants appearing on exterior surfaces of railroad rolling stock. On a locomotive, for example, 23% of the adherent particles were in contact with oily surfaces, and on the railroad cars the figure was 19%. The presence of oily contaminants on surfaces tends to increase particle adhesion because of tackiness this is illustrated by data shown in Table VIII.8 [11]. [Pg.263]
