Industrial stability

Determination of the nature of the sulfate content was attempted by following the conch of this impurity in two ways (1) during the course of laboratory simulated industrial stabilization procedures, and (2) from successive dissolutions of unstabilized NC samples in various solvents and subsequent repptn from non-solvents. This approach was based on the premise that free occluded sulfuric acid would be released from the fibers by the soln-pptn treatment, whereas chemically combined sulfate would remain unaffected. The fuli details of the various expts can be found in Ref 5 some typical results are shown in Table 3 for four samples of NC of different nitrogen content... [Pg.400]

As discussed in Chapter 10, a wide variety of additives is used in the polymer industry. Stabilizers, waxes, and processing aids reduce degradation of the polymer during processing and use. Dyes and pigments provide the many hues that we observe in synthetic fabrics and molded articles, such as household containers and toys. Functional additives, such as glass fibers, carbon black, and metakaolins can improve dimensional stability, modulus, conductivity, or electrical resistivity of the polymer. Fillers can reduce the cost of the final part by replacing expensive resins with inexpensive materials such as wood flour and calcium carbonate. The additives chosen will depend on the properties desired. [Pg.231]

Applications of HPLC Of the bioanalytical separation technologies described in this book, arguably HPLC has the widest range of applications, being adopted for the purpose of clinical, environmental, forensic, industrial, pharmaceutical and research analyses. While there are literally thousands of different applications, a few indicators of how HPLC has been used are as follows (i) Clinical quantification of drugs in body fluids (ii) Environmental identification of chemicals in drinking water (iii) Forensic analysis of textile dyes (iv) Industrial stability of compounds in food products (v) Pharmaceutical quality control and shelf-life of a synthetic drug product (vi) Research separation and isolation of components from natural samples from animals and plants. [Pg.160]

From the summary data of the preformulation studies, scientists should obtain potential leads based on stability conditions designed in order to consider them for further development. The next stage of development, which we call formulation, should take into account all the parameters that may achieve one or more stable formulations for marketability with acceptable industrial stability. [Pg.326]

These compounds are similar to such industrial stabilizers as Sanduvor V.5.4 - 2 - ethyl - 2 - ethoxydiphenyloxamide and Sanduvor V.5.4 - 5 - tretbutyl - 2 - etoxy -ethyldiphenyloxamide [68]. Stabilizing effect of such compounds is realized mainly according to physical mechanism of stabilization reactions of radical inhibition are improbable [69]. [Pg.10]

Screening showed that derivatives of benzo/B/-thiophene effectively prevent photooxidative destruction of polymer, exceeding well-known industrial stabilizer. It has been found that increase of CC concentration does not cause considerable rise of light stabilizing... [Pg.93]

Thus, comparison of compositions on the basis of the industrial polycarbonate, containing simultaneously offered by us phosphororganic compounds on the basis of five-valent phosphorus and industrial stabilizer Polygard, allows to approve, that composite materials with improved mechanical properties are received. [Pg.127]

All phosphor organic compounds appeared practically more effective additives to polyethylene in comparison with the industrial stabilizer polyolefin s lrganox-1010. [Pg.130]

Any substance which tends to make a compound, mixture, or solution resistant to changes in form or chemical nature. In the food industry stabilizers are used to thicken, to keep pigments and other components in emulsion form, and to prevent the particles in colloidal suspensions from precipitating. Algin, methyl cellulose, carrageenan, and pro-pylene glycol alginate are but a few of the stabilizers utilized. [Pg.986]
