Impeller washers

Imperial Chemical Industries has introduced a new crystalline poly(ether ether ketone) (PEEK) (structure 4.78). Applications are for compressor plates, valve seats, thrust washers, bearing cages, and pump impellers. In the aerospace industry it is employed as aircraft fairing, fuel valves, and ducting. It is also used in the electrical industry as wire coating and semiconductor wafer carriers. 

The separated nitrated product is continuously drawn off from the first separator into a stainless -steel wash tank equipped with a cylindrical baffle and an impeller-type agitator. Water is continuously added to the washer and the mixt overflows... 

In the automobile industry PEEK has successfully replaced metal parts including oil pumps, camshaft bearings, turbochaiger impeller, transmission seals, thrust washers, steering parts, seat adjustment gears, clutch fiction ring, vacuum pump and brake parts.

Applications are in the chemical process industry (compressor plates, valve seats, pump impellers, thrust washers, bearing cages), aerospace (aircraft fairings, radomes, fuel valves, ducting), and electrical (wire coating, semiconductor wafer carriers) industries. 

In small appliances, PPS is used for a wide range of items such as coffee warmer rings, electric blanket thermostat controls, frying pan handles, hair dryer grills, steam iron valves and toaster switches. In large domestic appliances, PPS is used for defroster plugs, dryer switches, microwave oven turntables, washer pump impellers, motor brush holders and flue collector/transition pipes.
