A related initiative to provide ongoing measurement of the quality of care provided by health systems are the ORYX indicators. ORYX is intended to integrate the use of outcomes and other performance measurement data into the accreditation process. Performance measures are expected to be applicable across the accredited health care organizations with the evolution of core performance measures applicable to each accreditation program. The initial four core measurement areas will be for hospitals and will focus on acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, community-acquired pneumonia, and pregnancy and related conditions. Hospitals are expected to collect data that will allow assessment of patient care based on the standards. The ORYX standards for acute myocardial infarction in Table 21.3 reflect the focus on medications and how pharmacists can impact their organizations performance. ... [Pg.387]

Many critical uncertainties must still be addressed to assess quantitatively the sources and sinks of atmospheric nanoparticles, their physical and chemical evolution during atmospheric aging, their direct and indirect impacts on atmospheric chemistry and physics, and their connections to adverse effects on human health. Several important and complex areas that need much additional study include ... [Pg.336]

By comparing the evolution of homology models of the CYPs and what we have learned from them with available experimental structures, we will be able to objectively assess the impact homology models have had on the understanding of protein-ligand interactions. In particular, as a case study we will focus... [Pg.438]

Various experimental approaches have been used to evaluate the impact of UVR on different cell processes (Figure 2). The evolution of oxygen [76,77] and incorporation of radiocarbon [20,78] have been widely used not only to determine the productivity of a water body, but also to assess the impact of UVR [18,22,30,43,49,79-84]. In addition, oxygen microsensors [85] have been shown to be practical tools for high-resolution measurements of UVR effects in sediments and microfilms [46,64], particularly in combination with optical microsensors measuring UVR [16]. [Pg.364]
