Common items such as valves, piping and welding electrodes which may be supplied for a large plant in half a dozen material specifications can become mixed up due to poor identification marking. [Pg.27]

The simplest way to identify a specimen is to mark it with letters or numbers applied by stamping with a stencil or number punch. There is, of course, always the danger that the identification marks will be obliterated by corrosion. To guard against this, the several specimens in a test should be identified further by a record of their positions relative to each other or to their supporting device. Before specimens are taken from test their identity should be established in this manner unless inspection has already shown that the identification marks have been preserved. [Pg.981]

Laboratory equipment is sometimes stolen. Most popular are smaller items of relatively high value, such as electronic balances. Permanent identification marks definitely discourage theft. One stolen microscope was quickly returned to its owner when it appeared on the used equipment market. It was easily identifiable because its owner had engraved marks not only on the body, but also on objectives and eye pieces. The thief, fortunately, had ignored them. [Pg.107]

Class A volumetric flasks and their stoppers will normally have an identification mark so that they can be identified easily as the ones used in a particular analysis. When preparing solutions of known concentration a glass stopper is preferred. [Pg.133]

S 7.7 to 8.1 (50 mg and larger) Should not be greater than twice the area of a cylinder of equal height and diameter. Highly polished and free of pits or markings except for identification markings. None, must be pure. [Pg.140]

A quantitative composition, including the name and amount of each active and inactive ingredient contained in the drug product, should be provided. In addition, an overall description of the dosage form should be included. This should be in sufficient detail to characterize it fully with regard to its type, release properties (i.e., immediate versus sustained or controlled release), and physical characteristics such as shape, color, type of coating, hardness, scoring, and identification marks. [Pg.193]

The CE mark is completed by the identification mark of the notified body. [Pg.79]

If the apparatus has been type tested and certified (certificate of conformity, control certificate) according to the old article 100 directives, the identification mark of the notified body and the certificate number shall be affixed on the apparatus. In the same way, a component (with a component certificate) shall be marked. [Pg.109]

Make a full description of the exhibit, noting type of container, labels, seals, stains or identification marks on the outer surface, and total volume and/ or weight. Note the colour, odour, presence or absence of suspended solids or sediment, pH, and whether material has a tendency to form a stable froth on shaking. [Pg.48]

IRAV modes have been observed in many conjugated polymers and oligomers, introduced either by chemical doping and by photo-excitation. The IRAV modes accompany each polaron or bipolaron excitation. Typically, the IRAV modes are used as an identification mark for the nature of the excitation (whether charged or neutral). However, there is almost no attempt to quantify the mechanism of pinning. [Pg.134]

Many tablets carry printed identification markings or are color coated dyestuffs are special excipients, and allergies to them have been documented. Formulations also have more subtle, but nonetheless differential characteristics such as whether the tablet was compressed at a higher or lower pressure. Lastly, differential efficacy exists among differently colored placebos, and this should therefore also be expected for active formulations. [Pg.52]

Provide some prominent identification mark (like badges) to the members of the audit team and also provide them some special privileges like free access to any place or information, etc. during the audit program. [Pg.133]

The procurement agency should have the necessary infrastructure to receive and process the product information submitted by manufacturers. It will require personnel for processing the documentation written procedures for receiving, identification, marking files, containers and samples, and sufficient space for unpacking and storage. [Pg.237]

Appearance. Verify parts by understanding their marking system and develop a trained eye. See Chapter 6, Identification Markings. The mechanic or planner learns how a material should look. If a nut, for example, is made by powder metallurgy (P/M) it may be porous and lack the corrosion resistance of an equivalent wrought product. Close examination of a P/M nut shows a surface full of tiny pores, whereas a wrought nut will have an unbroken surface. Basic problems such as imperfections on flange faces must be identified and the cause of rejection documented. [Pg.40]

Summary This chapter describes tests that verify the properties and quality of as received materials. These requirements may he referenced in specifications and performed as checks to prevent materials mix-ups. Types of identification markings used on products are also described. [Pg.121]

Many types of nondestructive, leak, corrosion evaluation and mechanical tests may be used to establish and verify quality requirements of the materials specification. In addition, identification markings enable materials to be checked for specification conformance. Field identification methods must be used when all else has failed, but their limitations must be understood. [Pg.121]

Identification markings are stamped, embossed or stenciled on metal components and are the first aspect to seek and interpret when examining a metal product. [Pg.138]

Field identification provides rapid, nondestructive verification of the composition of metal products before they are fabricated into components, placed in service, or stored for later use. Field identification may be required when accompanying paperwork is lost or identification markings are obliterated or not to be trusted. [Pg.144]

Each delivery or batch of printed or primary packaging material should be given a specific reference number or identification mark. [Pg.28]

Each printed material must carry identification marks reference marks or a code. [Pg.383]

Identification marks should make it possible to identify the text printed on the case. These marks should be detectable either visually or by an electronic system. [Pg.384]

It must be verified at regular intervals that all devices for detecting identification marks, when they exist, function correctly, and that all the devices designed to ensure that all... [Pg.384]
