Calibration was carried out for 0-100%wt PP content region. Two PCs fully described the model with a root square standard error of prediction (RMSEP) equal to 0.91%wt. Since the method is intended to be used for determination of very small amounts of PP in recycled HDPE, which has been carefully separated from PP and other household plastics, a PLS in a narrower interval, 0-15%wt PP, was designed. The model was validated by either cross validation or a test set consisting of three samples with 0.5, 7.0 and 12.0%wt PP content. The RMSEP was equal to 0.21%wt obtained from the calibration curves.

Currently the world s consumption of plastics is growing in this regard there are difficulties in disposing of large amounts of household plastic waste. The solution is to develop biodegradable polymers with a specific expiration date. This work is dedicated to the creation of biodegradable composite material based on LDPE, wood flour and rubbers of different nature.

The polymeric part of the household waste consists of more than 90 wt% of thermoplastics (mainly from plastics packaging) and less than 10% of thermosets. The composition of the household plastics waste and packaging plastics, respectively, from different countries is shown in Table 1. In spite of many different applications of polymers in all fields of our life only 0.6 % of the whole waste amount are falling to plastics. Another use of antimony in household plastic includes its use as a flame retardant in PVC covers of crib/cot mattresses (Jenkins et al. 1998a, b McCaUum 2005). While antimony has been detected in children s toys made of PVC, it is not clear if its use was as a pigment in the actual PVC or in paints used on the surface of toys (Kawamura et al. 2006). Antimony is also used in synthetic fabrics as a flame retardant, including use in protective clothing for firefighters (de Perio et al. 2010).
