Household packaging, contamination

Producers of board try to manufacture board for foodstuff packaging with other, less mineral oil-contaminated RCP grades. Major sources of mineral oil in paper for recycling are offset coldset inks preferably used in newspapers and which contain typically 20-30% mineral oil as solvent [12]. By appropriate sorting of the RCP, the theoretical possibility exists to remove newspapers from collected household paper mixtures, so-called household collections, so that a mixed RCP grade without newspaper is generated especially for board production. 

Storage rooms should be kept clean at a normal household level and vermin-free. No specific additional demands are made because the package of the products should protect them sufficiently against any contamination.

Solutions of bleach should not be stored in glass containers, but in material such as the plastic in which the bleach, the consumer product, is packaged in. Household bleach (5.25 sodium h3rpochlorite) diluted to the appropriate strength for the clean up job at hand is also an effective disinfectant. In addition, gross contamination must be cleaned up first with a soap and water solution, to ensure the disinfectant is completely effective. 

Eor almost 40 years, the brominated flame retardants (BERs) polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), hexabromocyclododecanes (HBCDs), and tetrabro-mobisphenol-A (TBBPA) have been widely used as additive or reactive flame retardants (ERs) in household products and food packaging to meet flammability standards. These chemicals are now recognized as global contaminants and are associated with adverse health effects in animals and humans.
