Catalysts high-throughput screening

To use the activated carbon procedure in high throughput catalyst screening we designed a 77 well plate with quartz vials and set up a pipette robot with concentrated metal nitrate solutions (Fig. 4). A computer based dgorithm which automatically produces random metal composition has been developed which directly controls the robot. Three important issues need to be addressed for the successful implementation of combinatorial asymmetric catalyst design (i) sources of diversity, (ii) high throughput synthesis of catalysts, and (iii) high throughput catalyst screening.

Since the late 1990s, Symyx Technologies, Santa Clara, CA, USA, has offered commercial, high throughput catalyst screening equipment primarily designed for the polyethylene industry [4].
