Hemp sesbania

Medium-grain fatty rice bran was the best material for reducing weed emergence (Palmer amaranth Amaranthuspalmeri S. Wats, and ivyleaf momingglory Ipomoea hederacea Jacq. followed by sicklepod Senna obtusifolia (L.) H. S. Irvin Bameby, hemp sesbania Sesbania exaltata (Raf.) Cory and prickly sida Sida... 

Hemp sesbania Sesbania exalta (Raf.) Cory, hairy nightshade Solanum sarrachoides Sendtner), longspine sandbur Cenchrus longispinus (Hack.) Fern., Kochia Kochia scoparia (L.) Schrad., shepherd s-purse, Capsella bursa-pastoris (L.), green foxtail Setaria viridis (L.) P. Beauv. 

Effects of allelopathic compounds. To compare the sensitivity of shoot and root length to PSRFW, 25 additional compounds were tested at 2 mH as described in the previous section. Hemp sesbania was harvested at 60 h and barnyardgrass at 72 h. These times were chosen in an attempt to maintain sufficient solution volume during the experiment. Root and shoot lengths, fresh and dry total weights, and percent germination were then determined. TFW was used to determine PSRFW.

Another use of anti-drift additions to sprays is in the controlled direction of the spraying. In the control of johnson grass, redroot, pigweed, and hemp sesbania in soybeans sprays were directed across the rows to catch the higher weeds in June, July, and August. The anti-drift polymer at 0.1% in the spray balanced the increased effectiveness through the use of surfactants in the formulation. The Nalco-trol polymer consisted of a long chain polymer that thickened water and eliminated the production of spray droplets smaller than 200 microns. 

When FBj was found to be structurally related to AAL-toxin, it was decided to test both toxins for phytotoxicity with a variety of plant species. AAL-toxin was phytotoxic to both weed and crop species, including black nightshade Solanum nigrum L.), redroot pigweed (Amaranthus retroflexus L.), northern jointvetch Aeschynomene virginica (L.)
