Hazard Signs

The isocyanate and polyol storage units must not share pumps or any fittings. The fitting must be such that there is no way that the wrong material can be added to a tank. All tanks must be clearly labeled with their contents and the appropriate safety signs, for example, isocyanate hazard signs. Most regulatory authorities will require the tanks to be in a suitably sized bunded (diked) area.

If the spill may expose the public to pesticides or pesticide residues, contact public health officials. If anyone is poisoned by contacting the spill or if you suspect that an exposure may lead to poisoning, call the hospital emergency room and provide them with the brand name, active ingredients, and any other labeling information about human health hazards, signs and symptoms of poisoning, and antidotes. 

Workplaces at which work with biological agents of group 2 to 4 is performed must be provided with the bio-hazard sign according to annex II of directive 2000/54/EC (Fig. 6.1).

Retail packages of mixed goods for private domestic use need not display the classification code or UN number but should carry danger and hazard signs.

Administrative cmitrol measures include for example job scheduling to limit exposure, posting hazard signs, restricting access and training. Job scheduling in pharmacy preparation however is not always desirable from the point of view of routine which is crmsidered advantageous for pharmaceutical quality. A pharmacy example of an administrative COTitrol measure is the relocation of reconstitution of medicines with class 4 and 5 substances from the ward to the hospital pharmacy where better protection can be provided.

If there are a number of stationary containers within a work area that have similar contents and hazards, signs will be posted on them to convey the hazard information. On our stationary process equipment, regular process sheets, batch tickets, blend tickets, and similar written materials will be substituted for container labels when they contain the same information as labels. These written materials will be made readily available to you during your work shift.
