Harmony and contrast

It has already been pointed out that firework art has no framework with the result that fireworks often lose their stability and are apt to give people unpleasant feelings. We must avoid this possibility by selecting the types of fireworks. 

Fireworks have artistic directions which may be schematically shown as in Fig.7. 

In the same way, for example, when a chrysanthemum has a pistil the pistil must vanish before the petals because the direction of the change must be from the small to the large. 

Fireworks consist of contrasts in light. There are two kinds of contrast space contrast and time contrast, in colour and brilliancy. Accordingly we have four relationships in these contrasts  

Here we are going to consider the contrast taking the chrysanthemum as a representative example.

The frequency exaltation of the Kekule mode is mirrored by the structural manifestations in the twin states, discussed with reference to Figures 16 and 17. Thus, the repulsive jr-curve in the ground state softens the potential and thereby enables the ground-state molecule to distort along the Kekule mode when angular strain is exerted. In contrast, the attractive jr-curve in the twin excited state stiffens the potential and restores the local Deh symmetry of the benzene nucleus. The two physical effects are in perfect harmony and find a natural reflection in the VB model. 

In contrast to these results, 25-hydroxycholesterol (and also, 20-hy-droxycholesterol, 7-ketocholesterol, and diosgenin) in aortic, smooth-muscle cells effectively blocks the incorporation of acetate into lipid-linked oligosaccharides (and, also, into cholesterol7). Thus, less of the lipid-linked oligosaccharides were available for glycosylation of proteins. In harmony with the presumed, inhibitory mechanism was the observation that incorporation of mevalonate into lipid-linked oligosaccharides was not inhibited, and that mevalonate itself (the product formed by HMG-CoA reductase from HMG-CoA and NADPH) could reverse the inhibition of glycosylation of protein (see Scheme 1). 

Finally, the composition should possess unity and harmony if all the elements of design—line, texture, light-and-dark contrast, shape, and color—fit together successfully. Regarding art, unity does not necessarily mean sameness. Therefore, within unity variety of size, shape, and color are important to a successful composition. The puzzle is then complete ... 

This book answers this question for industrial processes, in particular those in the energy and chemical industry. Having a long experience in joint efforts with industry and with teaching, the authors use the fundamental laws of thermodynamics as a point of departure. By contrast, satisfactory practical mechanical, electrical, optical, and thermal measurements are often made adequately for the purpose at hand, even if less accurate than corresponds to the optimum achievable uncertainty relative to true value expressed under SI. Routine measurements in these fields can thus be expressed conveniently in terms of the relevant SI unit to an uncertainty determined principally by the uncertainty of the practical measurement in the field. 1 Harmony among most physical and engineering measurements can be achieved to the uncertainty of the measurement in the field by traceability of all measures to the SI unit without invoking an intermediate standard 2 or RM. 

It is interesting to compare flash vacuum pyrolysis of LDPE and PS in a free-fall reactor. Temperature rise causes the solid residues to fall and the liquid and gas yields to increase. The LDPE figures exceed the corresponding PS values in the case of the solid residue and gas yield by about 50 and 10% respectively. In contrast, the liquid yield of LDPE is about one-fifth of PS. These findings are in harmony with the activation energies 270-331 kJ/mol for LDPE and 126-151 kJ/mol for PS [34].
