A mixture of quassinoids from Hannoa undulata (Sima-roubaceae) prevented penetration of tomato roots by infective juveniles of the root-rot nematode, Meloidogyne javanica, at 1-5 xg/ml. The major components of the mixture were chapparrinone (56), klaineanone (59), and glaucaruba-lone (57) (Chitwood, 1992). The primary effect appeared to be on the motility of the nematodes.

Recently another cytotoxic quassinoid, undulatone (42) (109) was isolated from Hannoa undulata. It has ester groups at both C-15 and C-6.
