Both indoleamine (e.g., lysergic acid diethylamide, LSD psilocybin) and phenethylamine hallucinogens (e.g., mescaline) increased pupil diameter.26 There have been no systematic studies of the effects of these drugs on dynamic measures of the light reflex. Phencyclidine (PCP) does not cause marked changes in pupil size or light reflex. However, subjects intoxicated with PCP often show horizontal and vertical nystagmus.26... 

These molecules cause significant changes in the perceptual system, producing sensory illusions and inducing a distortion of reality, the sense of space and time, to the point of hallucination. Natural, synthetic or semisynthetic substances can cause hallucinogenic effects psilocin, psilocybin, mescaline, and LSD. Hallucinogenic effects are also created by phencyclidine and ketamine, but these molecules have a dissociative character. 

Psilocybin, mescaline, and LSD have similar central (via serotonergic systems) and peripheral (sympathomimetic) effects. None of these hallucinogenic drugs have been shown to have teratogenic potential. Contrast this with the established potential for teratogenicity or other fetal toxicity with abuse of ethanol, amphetamines, and cocaine. Unlike most hallucinogens, phencyclidine acts as a positive reinforcer of self-administration in animals. Scopolamine is not a positive reinforcer but does exert atropine-like effects.
