Grounded unit, interior

During 1943 and 1944, the activities of the Chemical Warfare Service in the field of antigas training were aimed at helping the ACofS G-3 in his effort to develop a better state of preparedness for chemical warfare on the part of ground units still training in the zone of interior. An important means to this end was the procedure set up on September 1943 which provided for the technical inspection of troops and installations by representatives of technical services in order to determine the suitability of equipment and technical training. ... [Pg.388]

On January 7, 1998, an ice storm struck the northeastern United States and southeastern Canada. In Maine, 3 consecutive days of rain combined with ground temperatures consistently below freezing resulted in heavy accumulations of ice on trees and electric power lines. Falling trees and branches and breaking utility poles resulted in the loss of electrical power to an estimated 600,000 persons. Although the rain had stopped by January 11, temperatures declined to less than 10 °F (-12 °C) over most of the state, exacerbating the danger. On January 16, an estimated 50,000 households, primarily in the interior portion of the state, remained without power. [Pg.345]

The results of Dr. Weymouth s magnetic survey are in accordance with the soil chemical analyses (J5). The palisade lines, suspected interior structural features, and parade ground are clearly depicted on the line contour magnetic maps. Furthermore, the 1-m internal grid unit employed in that survey allowed for more accurate definition of the fort boundaries, and the 48-m inside dimension indicated by the magnetic results compares quite favorably with that suggested for the fort by documentary sources. [Pg.72]

It can be perceived that white groimd represents the interior of a building whereas green grounds are safe areas outside the building and black lines are walls. Consequently, the basic unit for space is the pixel, and the time is discrete. [Pg.137]

Two membranes form the inner and outer surfaces of the mitochondria. Both appear to show the kind of cross-section discussed for the unit membrane protein layer-lipid layer-protein layer (Fig. 81). The outer membrane covers the surface of the mitochondrium tightly but the inner membrane is deeply folded and can form, for example, cone-like projections in the interior of the mitochondrium, the mitochondrial aristae. The space enclosed within the inner membrane is filled with a cytoplasmic ground substance, the matrix. [Pg.86]
