Inside dimensions

The Stedman-type column is shown in Fig. 11, 56, 25. The characteristic features are (i) the use of a fine stainless steel wire cloth formed into conical discs, and (ii) an accurately fitting Pyrex glass jacket, produced by shrinking Pyrex glass on mandrels to the required inside dimensions. Modifications incorporating a silvered vacuum jacket and an electrically-heated jacket are marketed. This column is said to possess high efficiency but is expensive. It is generally employed in conjunction with a total-condensation variable take-off still head. [Pg.219]

For example, assume a building with inside dimensions of 8 ft wide, 10 ft long, and 8 ft high, an outside temperature of 70°F, inside temperature of 80°F, Ai = A2 and the vertical (center-to-center) distance between A, and A2 of 6 ft. The height from the center of the lower opening to the NPL is ... [Pg.512]

For clean conditions, the combined tube wall and steam-side resistance is calculated as 0.00090, corrected to inside dimensions. Thus, the calculated U is... [Pg.198]

Concentricity Term to describe two circles or cylindrical shapes having a common center and common axis, such as the inside or outside diameters of a barrel or outside diameters of the surface and bearing surfaces of a screw. Deviation from concentricity is referred to as runout. Also refers to the relationship of all inside dimensions to all outside dimensions usually expressed in thousands of inch or millimeter FIM (full indicator movement). Deviation from concentricity is usually referred to as a runout. The concentricity should allow for the maximum part tolerance. The geometry of the part should help indicate the tolerance applied. [Pg.633]

Gas can be supplied to the foam generator or to the test cell from a rodded cell(5 in Figure 1), a stainless steel cylinder, inside dimensions approximately 0.5 m long and 0.04 m diameter, mounted with its axis vertical, and designed for an internal working pressure of 6000 p.s.i.g... [Pg.521]

Replacing the field plates of Fig. 14.7 with the resonant microwave cavity shown in Fig. 15.4 allowed an increase in the circulating microwave power by Q, the quality factor, of the cavity.8 The cavity is a piece of WR-90 (X band) waveguide 20 cm long which is closed at both ends. The inside dimensions of the cavity are... [Pg.317]

The effect of rate-limited micellar solubilization, low-permeability layers, and solution phase density on the recovery of PCE by 4% Tween 80 and 4% Tween 80 with 5% EtOH was evaluated in two separate 2-D box studies. The inside dimensions of the rectangular box were 32 cm (height) x 61.7 cm (length) x 1.4 cm (width). Rectangular end chambers, constructed... [Pg.290]

It must be remembered that shrinkage takes place in all three planes. It is present but not normally detectable in thin cross-sections. In hollow items, the dimensions of the finished article will be smaller in the outside diameter. The inside dimension will be larger. This must be taken into account when a mold is designed. [Pg.118]

Experimental testing of the mathematical model was carried out in a Plexiglas two-dimensional vessel measuring 10 mm x 50 mm in inside dimension and 1,200 mm tall. Typical experimental results for 1.52- and 1.99-mm diameter glass beads are shown in Fig. 27, together with curves computed by using Eq. (5.9a). [Pg.262]

A furnace of 1 by 2 by 3 ft inside dimensions is constructed of a material having a thermal conductivity of 0.5 Btu/h ft °F. The wall thickness is 6 in. The inner and outer surface temperatures are 1000 and 200°F, respectively. Calculate the heat loss through the furnace wall. [Pg.119]

The inside dimensions of the reactor are 5 by 5 by 8 ft. One-half of the inside reactor volume is occupied by the catalyst. [Pg.827]

Hake 3 mold with an outside length and width slightly less than the inside dimensions of the casing This should be approx. I. inch deep. This mold can be made with body putty or with plaster of parts.let It cure and then use spray paint to coat the inside of it until the mold is smooth to the touch. [Pg.38]

The formulas are expressed in terms of inside dimensions. Although they are rarely needed, formulas in terms of outside dimensions, say Do, may be derived from the given ones by substitution of Do — 2t for D. For the 2 1 ellipsoidal head, for instance. [Pg.657]
