Do not take or discontinue any other medication, including salicylates (e.g., aspirin and topical analgesics), other over-the-counter medications, and botanical (herbal) products (e.g., bromelains, coenzyme Qio, danshen, dong quai, garlic. Patients should also be questioned about the use of any medications that might impair clotting. These might include prescription medications such as warfarin or over-the-counter medications such as aspirin. Even dietary supplements such as ginkgo biloba may have potential impact on bleeding. Consultation with the patient s physician is necessary to approve discontinuation of any prescribed anticoagulation agent.

Various h bs and supplements such as hawthorn extracts garlic, onion, ginkgo biloba, vitamin and aspirin, maybe used by herbalists for hypertension. Although these sub ances may lo w blood pressure in some individuals their use is not recommended because the fect is ight and usually too gentle to affect mod ate to sev e hypertension. Howev, several studies have demonstrated that hypertensive patients may benefit from daily doses of calcium (800 mg) or magnesium (300 mg). Patients should consult the primary health care provid before taking any h bal remedy. 

As a general precaution, ginkgo biloba may increase the risk of excessive bleeding, especially for people with blood circulation disorders and for those taking ibuprofen, aspirin, or other anti-coagulants. 

Ginkgo biloba has been associated with platelet, bleeding and clotting disorders and there are isolated reports of serious adverse reactions after its concurrent use with antiplatelet drugs such as aspirin, clopidogrel and ticlopidine. An animal study su ests that Kangen-Katyu may also enhance the antiplatelet and antithrombotic effects of ticlopidine.

Medications that can cause hearing loss in adults are aspirin in large quantities, antibiotics such as streptomycin and neomycin, and chemotherapy agents such as cisplatin and carboplatin. Taking antioxidants such as vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc, and ginkgo biloba helps combat ototoxicity.
