Gigantism

Atmosphere—Water Interaction. Although water is a very minor component of the atmosphere, less than 10 vol % of the atmosphere consisting of water, many important reactions occur ki the water droplets of cloud, fog, and rain. The atmosphere is an oxic environment ki its water phase, gigantic quantities of reductants, such as organic substances, Fe(II), SO2, CH SCH (dimethyl sulfide), and nitrogen oxides, are oxidized by oxidants such as oxygen, OH radicals, H2O2, and Fe(III). 

Some mycehal fermentations exhibit early sporulation, breakup of mycehum, and low yields if the shear is excessive. A tip speed or 250 to 500 cm/s (8 to 16 ft/s) is considered permissible. Mixing time has been proposed as a scale-up consideration, but httle can be done to improve it in a large fermenter because gigantic motors would be required to get rapid mixing. Culturing cells from plants or animals is beset by mixing problems because these cell are easily damaged by shear.

This, at first glance innocuous-looking functional FHK[p] is the holy grail of density functional theory. A vital event in the further development of the Earth was its collision with a smaller planet, possibly as big as Mars.
