Due to its simplicity and wide applicability, PPT is important for sample pretreatment in early drug discovery when generic extraction of mixtures of candidates is more important than sensitivity. As a generic technique, PPT is attractive for high-throughput bioanalysis because it offers fast sample preparation and easy automation and requires minimal manual labor. 

In order to achieve plasmonic enhancement of fluorescence it is important first of all to establish a deposition technique which can yield reproducible substrates with the desired value. Finally, the SECM is not limited to electroactive materials. Novel approaches based on other modes, currently under investigation, will enable us to modify surfaces with organic monolayers, polymers, and biological molecules. This is the area in which the future of SECM nanofabrication looks most bright. Once the required task data are determined, they need to be collected. Table 33.2 lists seven generic techniques for acquiring cognitive task data. The techniques are not mutually exclusive. For example, all techniques use some form of observation. Instrumented human-machine interface techniques and protocol analysis are used as knowledge-acquisition techniques. Each data-collection technique is described in more detail below.

This chapter introduced several methods for analyzing the electrochemical properties of neuro-stimulation electrodes.
