Squib. 1) (General). Any of various small size pyrotechnic or explosive devices 2) (Specific). A small explosive device similar in appearance to a detonator, but loaded with low explosive, so that its output is primarily heat (flash). Usually electrically initiated, and provided to initiate action of burning type munitions, pyrotechnic devices and rocket propellants. An electrical squib consists essentially of a tube containing a flammable material, and a small charge of powder compressed around a fine resistance wire connected to electrical leads or terminals (Ref 40a, p 135)... [Pg.752]

In general, the 120/240-V three-wire connection is preferred since it has twice the load capacity of the 120-V system with only one-and-one-half times the amount of conductor. Each 120-V winding has one-half the total kilovoltampere rating of the transformer. The loads on the secondary side of the transformers are kept as nearly balanced as possible such that maximum transformer capacity can be utilized, as well as... [Pg.1103]

Figure 2.7 provides a generalized view of the relationships among the component density, their terminal density, and the necessary wiring density that will be required to accommodate the selected degree of component complexity. The definition of the wiring connectivity W/ is provided. [Pg.50]

Endotracheal and endoesophageal electrodes have been used in cardiac studies (Ferris, 1966) both for recording and stimulation. The general form of the electrode is shown in Figure 1.2. For canine studies, an endotracheal electrode can be fabricated from a No. 36 (8.5-mm) endotracheal tube. The inflatable cuff on the distal end of the tube is coated internally and externally with flexible, conducting silver paint. The paint is also poured inside the tube over its entire length. A wire connection is made to the paint coating to form the electrical connection to the electrode. In use, the pressure cuff is inflated to assure positive contact between the external silver paint and the inner wall of the trachea. [Pg.181]

Copper connecting wires are generally used and must be connected to the electrodes before the mounted assembly is introduced into its envelope. The connecting wires can then be drawn one at a time out... [Pg.178]

In the particular cell (Fig. 6.28) generated by the measuring process, it will be only as a special case that the metal Mj (of the electrode/electrolyte interface under study) is identical with the metal M2 (the connecting wires of the measuring instrument). In general, M, and M2 will be different metals, say, platinum and copper. The meeting of the platinum and copper phases produces another double layer and an... [Pg.91]
