General Housekeeping

The employer shall ensure that the worksite is maintained in a clean and sanitary condition. An appropriate schedule for cleaning and method of decontamination based on the location within the facility, type of surface to be cleaned, type of soil present, and tasks or procedures being performed in the area. [Pg.102]

In the event of an accident where blood or other potentially infectious materials are found on equipment or surfaces, these items and surfaces should be cleaned and decontaminated. [Pg.103]

Any bins, pails, cans, and similar receptacles used for decontamination and disposal should also be decontaminated. [Pg.103]

Broken glass or anything that can pierce, puncture, or cut the skin that may have been contaminated should not be picked up directly with the hands. It should be gathered using mechanical means, such as a brush and dustpan, tongs, or forceps. [Pg.103]

If waste containing blood or other potentially infectious materials is generated it is considered regulated waste. Regulated waste should be discarded immediately or as soon as feasible in containers that are closable, puncture resistant, leakproof on sides and bottom, and labeled indicating medical waste with a biohazard sign. [Pg.103]

Health and safety concerns in the stmctural composite lumber industry are similar to those in the other composite industries. Special care is required in worker awareness, worker protection equipment, dust and vapor control, and general housekeeping. [Pg.397]

An essential part of the on-site visit is the physical inspection of the toller facility—the walk-through. It offers the opportunity to confirm interview responses, observe work practices, interview employees, and note general housekeeping, soil contamination and safety issues. [Pg.35]

Assign responsibility for administration, maintenance, cleaning and general housekeeping... [Pg.248]

Observation and identification levels ensure labeling is clear, consistent, and easily distinguished using color-coded pipework improve work environment (e.g., lighting and general housekeeping). [Pg.313]

The review looks for major risk situations. General housekeeping and personnel attitude arc not the objectives, although tliey can be significant indicators of where to look for real problems or places where meaningful improvements are needed. Various hazard evaluation teclmiques, such as checklists (see previous Section), what-if questions (see Section 15.5), and raw materitil evaluations, can be also used during tlie review. [Pg.442]

Pay an informal visit to the laboratory to evaluate general housekeeping practices a cluttered, untidy, or dirty laboratory is not a good sign. [Pg.86]

Controlled environment requirements Preventative maintenance Emergency repairs Validated classified areas Structural changes Cross contamination prevention General housekeeping and sanitation Cleaning agents and pest control Critical utilities... [Pg.336]

A routine facility maintenance program should keep the facility clean and in operating condition without inadvertent interruptions or discharges to the environment. The maintenance program includes (1) general housekeeping, (2) facility support... [Pg.279]

Molecular chaperones perform general housekeeping functions in the cell, which include catalysis of the unfolding and correct refolding... [Pg.304]

CCTV has been found to be very effective for detecting charge pan debris and for general housekeeping inspections. The core restraints are only accessible at a number of distinct locations but inspections to date have revealed no evidence of in-service degradation, as would be expected from the low operating temperatures (300 ). It is planned to continue these surveys throughout the lifetimes of the reactors. [Pg.394]

Is all scaffolding and equipment removed is general housekeeping acceptable ... [Pg.111]

Other types of materials stored around and/or on top of the cabinets must adhere to general housekeeping requirements under 1910.22(a), and 1910.106(e)(9) which will tend to control leakage and prevent the accidental escape of flammable liquids. All spills must be cleaned up promptly. [Pg.137]

Most of the material presented in this section is related to the conunonplace and obvious. Nevertheless, a majority of the incidents leading to injury, occupational illness, and property damage stem from failure to observe the principles associated with safe materials handling and general housekeeping. [Pg.112]
