Overall, there is a strong indication that UN General Assembly resolutions are not without value. They do exert an influence. I believe that the support of a large number of states and also the other factors discussed above such as language, number of referrals and general importance play a role in the process where some resolution receive a higher status than other resolutions. [Pg.67]

Pedigree The Declaration is a UN General Assembly resolution. It was adopted without a vote. The rules of procedure of the General Assembly do not include the procedure of adoption without a vote. Yet, this is possible taking a detour. The President of the General Assembly can propose that a resolution is adopted without a vote. This proposal is then voted oti.
