Gear shift mechanisms

Manual transmission A transmission utilizing a driver-operated clutch that is activated by a pedal or lever and a gear-shift mechanism operated either by hand or foot. [Pg.675]

This is a fruitful area for specially developed formulations which combine lubricity with good creep and temperature resistance. The Audi 80 gear shift mechanism is composed of two snap-fitted components in a nylon-based composite containing PTFE and silicone as well as glass fibre in another case an actuator tube in reinforced PPS moves in contact with the PEI housing for an automatic gear shift. (Both these examples feature formulations from the LNP Company.)... [Pg.129]

The manual-operated valve (refer to Figure 3.9) is conneeted to the car gear selection mechanism. It controls the transmission fluid flow to the forward or reverse loop. Except in manual Ist-Gear position, the function of manual-operated valve is same in all forward gear. In manual Ist-Gear, the transmission fluid will enter into the shift valve 1 —2 to make the rear brake belt... [Pg.90]

An 1869 patent by France s Barberon and Meunier foresaw today s deraillcurs. It described a mechanism that would shift a belt or chain sideways among three sprockets or discs. That same year, Barberon and Meunier also patented a primitive gear hub. [Pg.146]

Naturally, none of the equations above are the only reactions occurring when black powder burns, but it is interesting that the equations reveal mechanisms for shifting the gas volume produced, and shifting the energy released when this old mixture is burned at different conditions. It was this ability to shift chemistry that made the development of firearms possible. Black powder does not shift from one equation to another like a transmission shifts gears. It s a smooth continuum of changing chemical reactions that has made this mixture a very versatile composition for centuries. [Pg.23]

Change-over mechanism for pressure head shifting device, swivelling device, multiple turret Column speed control Lifting and lowering device, travelhng gear Automatic lubrication device central lubrication system Electrical section drive motors, electrical control, software for preventative maintenance... [Pg.83]

The two variable-delivery axial piston pumps k and I for the motions of the ram and the piercing mandrel are driven by a common motor and arranged on the top of the frame directly above the main cylinder. The oil collector tank and two geared pumps for the auxiliary drives are arranged in a pit below floor level. The auxiliary drive units operate the container and die-carrier shifting devices, the shear, the locking mechanism of the die-carrier and the control gears of the two axial piston pumps. [Pg.115]
