Gasless mixture

Fast Burning Gasless Mixture, which contains CuO 80 Al (grained) 20%, is suitable as an incendiary. It develops high pressure on fast burning by sublimation of copper Ref W.A Show, "Development of an Incen-diaty Pellet , TCR-59, Technical Command, Army Chemical Center, Maryland (5 May, 1950)... [Pg.389]

Gasless Mixture 668/Mn Mn 10, Cu 30, Si 30 Pb02 30%. Pressure on heating of this mixture was developed by sublimation of metals Ref W.A. Show, Development of an Incendiary Pellet , Tech Command Army Chem Center, Md Kept TCR-59 (May 1950)... [Pg.668]

A gasless mixture that is relatively safe to process and to handle. It will burn under greatly diminished atmospheric pressure. Used with NC binder and added powdered glass, it adheres to the substratum and its ash continues to adhere for efficient fire transfer. Its efficacy can be increased by an increase in the percentage of boron and replacement of barium chromate by calcium chromate. [Pg.382]

When a mixture of Fe203 powder and Zr powder is ignited, Fe203 acts as an oxidizer of Zr, similar to the oxidation of AL This reaction is exothermic and gasless, and is expressed by ... [Pg.293]

This reaction is highly exothermic without yielding gaseous products, i. e., it is a gasless reaction, and the adiabatic flame temperature is 3460 K at the stoichiometric mixture ratio. However, this reaction only occurs at high temperatures, above 2000 K. In order to initiate the combustion, a high heat input is needed for ignition. [Pg.320]

Note This is a "gasless" delay mixture - the burning rate increases as loading pressure increases. "Gassy" mixtures will show the opposite behavior. aReference 2. [Pg.55]

Contrary to the behavior expected for "gassy" mixtures, the rate of burning for gasless compositions is expected to increase (in units of grams reacting per second) as the eonsolidation pressure is increased. "Gasless" delays propagate via heat transfer... [Pg.77]

Burning behavior can therefore be summarized in two words homogeneity and confinement. An increase in either should lead to an increase in burning rate for most high-energy mixtures. Note, however, that "gasless" compositions do not show the dramatic confinement effects found for "gassy" compositions. [Pg.160]

Delay compositions are mixtures of materials which, when pressed into delay tubes, react without evolution of gaseous products and thus ensure the minimum variation in the delay period. Examples of such mixtures are potassium permanganate with antimony lead dioxide or minium with silicium redox reactions with fluorides and other halides (- also Coruscatives and -+ delay gasless). [Pg.128]

Based on their analyses, and incorporation of additional details, we have outlined some general relationships for gasless combustion synthesis of materials from elements (type 1), as shown schematically in Fig. 3. Both characteristic features of the process, the combustion wave propagation velocity and maximum temperature, have maximum values when the composition of the green mixture corresponds to the most exothermic reaction for a given system (Fig. 3a). The application of combustion theory to gasless synthesis processes is based on a comparison of the mass and thermal diffusivities in the solid reactant mixture. In these types of systems, the Lewis number is very small ... [Pg.120]
