FuelCell Energy is a partner with Versa Power Systems, Nexant, and Gas Technology Institute to develop more affordable fuel-cell-based technology that uses synthesis gas from a coal gasifier. The key objectives include the development of fuel cell technologies, fabrication processes, and manufacturing capabilities for solid oxide fuel cell stacks for multi-mega-watt power plants. 

The vendor states that MRRP may not be cost effective for contaminated water or wastewater as a primary treatment system but could recover mercury from carbon systems used to treat these waste streams. According to the Gas Technology Institute, the mobilization and demobilization of mobile thermal treatment systems can be costly and time consuming. These technologies are often energy intensive.

Special analysis that was performed by request of Gas Technology Institute in 2001-2002 (private communication) had clearly demonstrated that all kinetic models developed to date for high-temperature oxidation of methane and its homologues can describe well some selected experiments but contradict others. The groups of experiments described well by different models cannot be clearly classified by their types, methods, or conditions. It was concluded that different models are initially connected with some groups of arbitrary selected experiments.
