Future enhancements

In this review, CPOs constructed by covalent bonds are mainly focused on however, stable coordination bonds comparable to the stability of the covalent bonds have potential for future enhanced molecular design of novel CPOs. One representative is the bond between pyridine-type nitrogen and metal, which is widely used in supramolecular chemistry, that is, the cyclic supramolecular formation reaction between pyridine-substituted porphyrin and metal salts (Fig. 6d) [27,28]. Palladium salts are frequently used as the metal salts. From the viewpoint of the hard and soft acid and base theory (HSAB), this N-Pd coordination bond is a well-balanced combination, because the bonds between nitrogen and other group X metals, N-Ni and Ni-Pt coordination bonds, are too weak and too strong to obtain the desired CPOs, respectively. For the former, the supramolecular architectures tend to dissociate into pieces in the solution state, and for the latter. 

Further improvements in retrospectivity and detection limits will hinge on future enhancements of sensitivity and resolution of electro-spray mass spectrometry instruments and of several hybrid configurations.

There are many possibilities for further enhancement based on user requests as well as attractive methodologies and algorithms already published in the literature (6-27). Here we would like to list a few, with some already being prototyped. 

System design specifications will be used by the supplier as working documents during the design, development, integration, and build of the system, and after qualification of the system as support documentation by those responsible for the maintenance and future enhancement of the system.

Experience from many conventional oil and gas fields has shown that solids control should be installed before solids production occurs. It generally becomes more difficult to control further solids flow as the cumulative volume of produced solids increases. Consequently, in conventional oil and gas fields, initial solids control installations have proven to be consistently more successful than remedial treatments. Future enhancements will certainly improve the success of remedial treatments. The technology is continually advancing, and cost-effective through-tubing remedial methods are now available (55). 

On the same token, the North Slope gas can be effectively utilized for the enhanced oil recovery in the other North Slope oil fields. Plans for undertaking miscible flood in the Kuparuk River Field (Kuparuk Formation) similar to Prudhoe Bay are already underway. Lisburne and Endicott fields also show promise for the use of natural gas for future enhanced oil recovery.
