The functional logic diagram for the SIS must be arranged to show the complete operational cycle. The diagram shown below uses AND, OR and NOT function blocks with two timers to define the logical requirements. 

The flat tire example is pictured using a fault tree logic diagram, shown in Figure 11-12. The circles denote basic events and the rectangles denote intermediate events. The fishlike symbol represents the OR logic function. It means that either of the input events will cause the output state to occur. A fault propagation method used to analyze failure rate or probability for safety instrumented functions. The PRA model did not include any descriptions of time delays used in the I C systems, and thus no timers were added to the logic modules. However, in real I C systems timers are regularly used.
