Graphs giving the quantity, r, as a function of quality and pressure have been given by Martinelli and Nelson, based on their empirical correlations. [Pg.222]

Zuber showed that Eq. (70) corresponded to the result obtained experimentally by Armand (A7), with K = 0.S33, and that it could correlate gas void-fractions as a function of quality for values of Ra to 0.8 for vertical flow. [Pg.243]

Container Capacities, Fill Point Variation, Sterile Filter Monitoring, Start-Up Checks. These all can be checked easily on a statistical basis. The frequency of each check should be specified so that these become routine functions of quality control. Filler-bowl wine temperature fluctuations are extremely important since they may be a major cause of fill-point fluctuation in bottles. This fluctuation cannot be overemphasized because of legal ramifications. Specific standards of fill and head-space maxima are listed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in 27 CFR, part 4. [Pg.232]

Because many heavy metals are toxic to man, animals and plants, it is necessary to monitor continually potable water, river water and trade and sewage effluents to check that the metal levels are below the predefined safe limits. In this way, water quality is preserved and the health of the population is safeguarded. It is because of the public health aspects that toxic limits for metals in surface waters have been introduced and those set by the European Economic Community are displayed in Table 1. It can be seen that all limits are at the trace level and in order to comply with these directives there will be a need for the regular analysis of raw and potable waters for these metals. This is the function of quality-control water laboratories. [Pg.68]

Half-life tests have shown that the use of gellants increases the static stability of foams, and the use of cross-linkers significantly lengthens half-lives (Figure 10). The figure illustrates the half-lives for different stabilized foams as a function of quality. The addition of gellants and crosslinkers dramatically increase both the viscosity and the static stability of the foam. [Pg.382]

Figure 15.94 shows data obtained by Robertson and Wadekar [232] for ethanol boiling in a vertical 10-mm internal diameter tube. Here, the heat transfer coefficient is plotted as a function of quality for two mass fluxes with heat flux as a parameter. Again, the data asymptote to a line representing pure forced convection as the quality increases... [Pg.1078]

This description of value states that value is a function of quality, as perceived by the customer the delivery of the product which could represent the actual lead time, variance in the lead time, or the method of delivery and the firms flexibility. Further, the equation states that customers perceive these benefits of the product in relation to the cost of the product. [Pg.41]

Ratio of local two-phase pressure gradient to pressure gradient for liquid flow only as a function of quality and pressure. (Data from Todreas, N.E. and Kazimi, M.S., Nuclear System. I Thermal Hydraulic Fundamentals, Hemisphere, New York, 1990.)... [Pg.768]

In this view, it is the functions of quality function deployment (QFD), design of experiments (DOE), and process control (PC) that are emphasized rather than the design, manufacturing, test, etc. activities. It is the manner in which the processes of... [Pg.2368]

The calculations shown in this work have been performed using the Amsterdam Density Functional (ADF) code [20,21]. All of them are spin not polarized. The influence of the quality of the basis set on the Re value has been explored taking as a guide the case of Mn in fluoroperovskites. For this goal two types of basis sets have been employed. Firstly calculations have been carried out by means of functions of quality IV (which are implemented in the ADF code) involving triple zeta basis functions plus a polarization function. In a second step Re has also been computed using double zeta functions of quality II for F and ions. [Pg.13]

The equilibrium Mn -F distance, Re, for the six AMF3 fluoroperovskites containing substitutional Mn " Impurities obtained using basis functions of quality IV Is reported in Tablet. These results are essentially independent on the number of electrons included in the core as discussed in Ref [24]. In table 1 the Re values obtained using basis functions of quality II for F and M are also reported. It can be seen that the obtained Re values are practically unaffected by this reduction of quality in the basis set. This result thus concurs with those of a recent work [13] showing that DFT results are less sensitive to the quality of the basis set than in the case of ab initio calculations. [Pg.14]

Influence of recycling on aging properties (120 °C) of polypropylene as a function of quality of the recycled material recycled material = polypropylene aged in a convection oven (new material) recycled material w/o optical changes recycled material, oxidized discolorations recycled material, strongly oxidized = polypropylene pest... [Pg.362]
