In the future, commercial buildings as well as individual homes may be outfitted with fuel cells as an alternative to receiving electricity (and heat) from regional power stations. Researchers are also working on miniature fuel cells that could replace the batteries used for portable electronic devices, such as

This volume of gas could be compressed to a much smaller volume, as it is on the experimental buses in Vancouver. 

As long as fuel is available to it, a given fuel cell can supply electrical energy indefinitely. Why can t batteries do the same
