Front-end converter

Since hydrogen, like electricity, is secondary energy, the energy chain s front end converters (the power plants, the reformers, the electrolysers, the liquefiers and others) have to be taken into the safety considerations, too ... [Pg.47]

Answer We usually cannot afford to let any given on-board converter attempt to redefine the ground in the middle of a system. However, inverting regulators can on occasion be used, especially if the converter happens to be a front-end converter. In this case, since the system effectively starts at the output terminals of this converter, we maybe able to define the ground at this point. In that case, the relative polarity between the input and output of the converter may become a don t care situation. [Pg.181]

Ducted rockets are intermediate between solid rockets and liquid ramjets in their propulsion characteristics. The propulsive force of soHd rockets is generated by the combustion of propellants composed of oxidizer and fuel components. Thus, no additional fuels or oxidizers need to be introduced from the atmosphere into the rocket motor. The momentum change of the exhaust gas from the nozzle attached to the aft-end of the combustion chamber is converted into the thrust for propulsion. On the other hand, the propulsive force of Hquid ramjets is generated by the combustion of a liquid hydrocarbon fuel with air introduced from the atmo-sphere.Ii] jjjg incoming air is compressed by a shock wave formed at the air-intake attached to the front end of the combustor. The air taken in from the atmosphere serves only as the oxidizer for the ramjets. The thrust is created by the momentum difference between the exhaust gas from the combustor and the air taken in from the atmosphere. [Pg.439]

The Claus Catalytic Cbnverters. These units represent the heart of any sulfur recovery plant. While the bulk of the sulfur yield may be obtained in the front end reaction furnace the high overall recovery levels demanded by environmental regulations are largely dependent on the efficiency of the Claus catalytic converters. [Pg.45]

Elsewhere in this review we have commented on the problem of COS production as a result of high temperature reactions occurring in the front end furnace. Sulfur in this form is not subject to conversion to elemental sulfur in the catalytic redox Claus reaction and thus appears as COS in the tail gas where it is incinerated to SO2 thus adding to losses to the environment. The COS and any CS2 can be hydrolyzed to H2S which can then be converted by the redox Claus reaction. [Pg.46]

For this reason the ASIC concept is based on the modulation of the pressure measurement signal to a carrier frequency fm of approximately 5 kHz by square wave voltage supply of the gauge (H-bridge circuit). The signal is preamplified and then converted into a single-bit data stream with a data rate of fAZ=25G frn (about 1.28 Mbps) by a second-order AS modulator. The analog front-end (preamp and AS) is produced in fully differential SC circuitry. [Pg.264]

In practice, the industrial hydrogenation unit is usually located at two different points in the purification section of an ethylene plant. In the so-called tail-end design the hydrogenation takes place at the end of the process, after hydrogen, methane and carbon monoxide have been removed. In the second scheme, known as front-end scheme the converter is located immediately after the cracking section [4,5,6].The front end... [Pg.311]

To first obtain an ECG the patient must be physically connected to the amplifier front end. The patient/amplifier interface is formed by a special bioelectrode that converts the ionic current flow of the body to the electron flow of the metallic wire. These electrodes typically rely on a chemical paste or gel with a high ionic concentration. This acts as the transducer at the tissue-electrode interface. For short-term applications the use of silver-coated suction electrodes or sticky metallic foil electrodes are... [Pg.397]

In the early days the synthesis gas was produced at atmospheric pressure, and the synthesis gas was compressed in reciprocating compressors to pressures as high as 100 MPa in some cases. Capacities were limited to around 300 - 400 MTPD due to limitations in reciprocating compressors. However, with the development of steam reformer based front-ends and the introduction of centrifugal compressors, the ammonia plant capacities suddenly increased to 1000 MTPD with ammonia synthesis loop pressures typically around 15 MPa. Since the 1960 s new developments have been in the ammonia converter designs, such as introduction of radial flow converters and introduction of converters with multiple catalyst beds to increase ammonia conversion. [Pg.17]

For the purpose of the present document, the area of interest here is the Incoming Power Conversion section of the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), the Front End of the drive, this is what the AC feeder network sees and from which the effects in concern originate from. All other considerations downstream such as Inverter frequency, motor harmonics, motor power factor etc. are totally independent of the AC front end side, effectively isolated by the DC intermediate circuit. In the above diagram, the term AC to DC converter is used as a generic term to describe Passive and Active Front End types. [Pg.151]

The hoist drive solution presented in this work, which is based on the Ingedrive MVlOO medium voltage AG frequency converters, contains two completely independent Active Front End Rectifier and Inverter sets under the well-known AC-DC-AC topology. The entire drive system solution allows the operation at full speed and full load (then full hoist performance, with no limitation) even in the case that one frequency converter (AG-DC-AC set) is unavailable. The solution presents some extra benefits comparing to the original hoist system solution that was based on two slip ring rotor wound induction motors in which the speed control... [Pg.229]
