With this approach we possess the almost complete data-stream and we can look at how the brains of both the receiver and sender actually construct communicative reality. Our approach allows the manipulation of stimuli which can be tested against reality. We will propose a new communication theory which is in its nature multi-modal and multilayered with different channels and many possible communicative principles. [Pg.115]

A microcontroller board for sensor read-out was developed in collaboration with AppliedSensor (Reutlingen, Germany). This board provides the power supply and the necessary reference voltages and currents to the sensor chip. The sensor chip is mounted on a socket and connected to the microcontroller. The microcontroller provides a set of commands for programming and reading the on-chip registers, controller parameters and sensor values. The microcontroller also manages the data transfer between the f C interface of the microchip and a serial RS-232 interface for external read-out via a PC. The data stream is continuously read out in the measurement mode. Each data set contains the temperature of the microhotplate, the chip... [Pg.71]

Data processing and chemometrics are methods for extracting useful information from the complex instrumental and other data stream(s) (see Chapter 12) for process understanding and the development of deterministic models for process control. The hnal element, the analytical method development life cycle, will be discussed further within this chapter. [Pg.3]

With a few components, the 555 timer can be configured to detect missing pulses in a data stream. The schematic for this type of configuration is shown in Fig. 6.7. [Pg.148]

The committee recommends that resources be made available to attract specialists in synthetic organic chemistry and polymer materials to the field of selective recognition chemistry for ocean measurements. For telemetered data, processing close to the sensor should be emphasized, to reduce the size of the data stream. [Pg.87]

Finally sine-wave analysis/synthesis is also suitable for extrapolation of missing data [Maher, 1994], Situations occur, for example, where a data segment is missing from a digital data stream. Sine-wave analysis/synthesis can be used to extrapolate the data across the gap. In particular, the measured sine-wave amplitude and phase are interpolated using the linear amplitude and cubic phase polynomial interpolators, respectively. In this way, the slow variation of the amplitude and phase function are exploited, in contrast with rapid waveform oscillations. [Pg.482]

Figure 3 shows the locations of the nodes in a sensor field. Also, Figure 3 shows how the network station is gathering data from the current area of observation. Nodes 1 and 4 sense the environment. Nodes 2 and 5 relay the data. Node 3 receives two raw data streams and then aggregates them into a single stream. Furthermore, node 3 transmits the aggregated data to node 6. Nodes 6 and 7 relay the data onward without any processing. [Pg.180]

FIGURE 5.20 Alice transmits a data stream by encoding each data bit either as 1 = spin up and 0 = spin down, or as 1 = spin right and 0 = spin left. She chooses whether to use up-down or right-left at random, and chooses again for each data bit. Each bit is then sent as a single particle (for example, one electron). [Pg.123]

FIGURE 5.21 In order to decode the received data stream, the receiver has to guess whether the transmitter used up-down or right-left to encode the particles. If the guess is correct, the received data is right. If the guess is wrong, the received data will be 0 half the time, and 1 half the time at random. [Pg.123]

Here is a model that detects three l s in a data stream appearing on input Data. The input is checked on every falling edge of clock. If three consecutive 1 s are found on the input, the output is set to true, else it is set to false. [Pg.144]

Notice that this latter procedure produces two data streams, one the IRS sheam and the other the Boltzmann data stream. Both data streams are usehil, and the ratios of the distributions obtained from these data streams are useful also. [Pg.178]
