Fluorescent poly

The new fluorescent poly(aryl ethers) derived from nonfluorescent monomers have gained significant attention from polymer scientists [20]. These polymers are prepared by the polymerization of phenolphthalein and its derivatives with activated aromatic difluorides. [Pg.36]

A third strategy has involved increasing the label content such that the luminescent species itself acts as a modifier, which subsequently creates a new class of fluorescent poly electrolyte [20,27-42]. Copolymers of this type, containing a high degree of aromaticity have shown potential as media for efficient light harvesting... [Pg.43]

Other zero-valent nanoparticles that were incorporated in polymer nanofibers through direct dispersion electrospinning were transition metals such as superpar-amagnetic cobalt nanoparticles. Short hybrid fibers of the fluorescent poly (methylmethacrylate-co-vinylanthracene) copolymer containing cobalt nanoparticles were fabricated as magnetic micromanipulators of neurons [14]. [Pg.95]

A common problem with the use of fluorescence for quantitative analysis is that many compounds can effect quenching. Adsorptive quenching is so common that it is used in TLC to identify where a thin-layer plate may contain elution bands. In this case, the TLC plate contains a chemically bond fluorescent dye. When observed under UV irradiation, the entire plate fluoresces visibly except where the plate carries adsorbates quenching the fluorescence. Poly-mer/additive applications are not routine. [Pg.639]

The interaction of the polymer with label free Pseudomonas fluorescens DNA has been investigated by fluorescence titration methods and TEM, demonstrating strong interactions, predominantly relying on electrostatic interactions [25]. [Pg.635]
