The soft lavender, blue, or pink flower dusters of ageratum are a beautiful addition to the flower garden. Plants grow 6 -36 high and about 1 wide. They bloom from early summer to first frost. Ageratums also make good container plants. 

Choosing bulbs carefully is an important step toward a beautiful and care-free flower garden. Select bulbs, such as the healthy daffodil pictured, that seem heavy for their size and that are free of cuts, bruises, and discoloration. Be wary of lightweight or shriveled bulbs. 

It can be used for the selective control of mono- and dicotyledonous weeds in onion, sugar beet, flower gardens and nurseries. It is used in combination with cycluron and pyramin (Fischer, 1960). 

Peat is a very valuable material for use in vegetable and flower gardens, as every gardener knows, but its value is primarily as a mulch and for improving soil tilth in heavy clay soils. It also adds to the exchange and absorptive capacity of the soil, adds some available nutrients, and helps to hold nutrients in available form. We are less certain as to its value as a humus source. 

One of the most important advantages of mulches is their suppression of weeds, thereby eliminating cultivation. This benefit is of somewhat less importance now than formerly, since herbicides offer an alternate method of weed suppression. But mulches deep enough to control weeds are more often used in vegetable and flower gardens where herbicides are sometimes hazardous to use.

If you do use TSP, you should protect your hands with plastic gloves and your eyes with protective eyeglasses. TSP dumped down the drain may pollute water and damage aquatic ecosystems. Particularly if you live near a lake and have a septic system, it would be safer to dispose of the wash water in your flower garden or lawn than down the drain. It will not damage plants. Businesses licensed to use sewer systems might actually be prohibited by the terms of their licenses from disposing TSP down the drain.
