Blanket Insulation. A relatively flat and flexible insulation in coherent form furnished in units of substantial area. Some forms are called baits. 

Fabrication of Base Sensors For fabrication of redundant sensor arrays on metal or flexible insulating substrates, processes used in the semiconductor industry can be utilized as shown in Figure 8.2.44,45 Photolithography, wet etch, dry etch, sputtering, and evaporation are a few processes that have been used.46,47 The techniques described in this section can be used many times on the same sample to lead to numerous metals (or different electrodes) being fabricated on the same substrate, which can then be implanted in vivo.

Syntactic silicone foams have also been formed. They cure at room temperature or at slightly elevated temperatures and become flexible insulators and ablators. They can be cut, trowelled, molded, or air-injected into place, and oued pieces can be bonded to substrates by using RTV silicone adhesives (13). 

With metallocenes and methylalumoxane or other compounds, ethylene/ 1-octene copolymers can be synthesized under solution polymerization process conditions [31]. A wide spectrum of high-performance products are available, as described elsewhere [69]. These tailor-made products are used for sealant applications (blown film), injection molding and flexible insulation (wire and cable). 

One of the most promising options of flexible insulation materials to be used for translucent foil structures involves granular silica aerogel as insulation material - see Fig. 12.2 (Cremers, 2008). Not only does aerogel have excellent thermal-insulation properties (see r-values and /-values in Fig. 12.3), but it is translucent as well.

Other applications include the use of polyesters in gaskets, printer rolls, flexible insulation and as binders for mica. Polyester resin putty, when applied to hardened white cement filled tile seams, ensures toughness and smoothness. Polyester resins containing niobium carbide nanoparticles have been used in the production of radio wave absorbing materials. These materials can be used as protective screens, coverings or coating material to mask equipment from radio detection. They are also used to protect personnel from radio emissions, and as a radio wave absorbing label for security papers and documents.

Cell floors, gangways, and spillage containment areas are constructed with smooth, sloping floors so that any mercury can be easily recovered or wash water can be conveniently collected for treatment. The supply pipes run under the cells and are connected to them by flexible, insulating connections. The heat given off by the cells and the decomposers is removed by a ventilation system. 

Answer by author We recognize the necessity of flexible insulated transfer tubes for a high percentage of cooling applications, A series of flexible connections have been tried experimentally at Aro and we find a solution to this mechanical problem feasible. However, additional work in this field is necessary.
