Flat tape

For fabrication of Bi-2223 wires , appropriate amounts of Bi203, PbO, SrCOs, CaCOs, and CuO were mixed and calcined from 750°C to 860°C for 8-200 h, filled in a silver tube, drawn to a round wire, rolled or pressed into a flat tape, and then sintered. 

Previous studies reported in the literature have indicated that nylon and polypropylene fibers can provide effective reinforcement for concrete [1-5]. The configurations of the fibers in carpet, nylon face yam being highly crimped and polypropylene fibers being of flat tape shape, help improve the fiber-matrix interlocking which is essential for effective reinforcement. Woven geotextiles have the appearance of two sets of parallel threads interlaced at right angles to each other in the plane of the fabric. Warp yarns lie along the length of the fabric and weft in the transverse direction, i.e. across the width of the fabric. The type of yarns used to produce a woven geotextile may be monofilament, multifilament, a combination of each type, or slit film yarns. Two kinds of slit film yarn can be used, either flat-tape yarns or flbrillated yarns. 

Monofilament and multifilament woven fabrics are generally made from PET, the use of monofilament giving the better permeabihty, whereas multifilament is used for higher strength reinforcement. SHt film, flat-tape fabrics are usually PP materials, which are quite strong but they form a fabric that has relatively poor permeability. Alternatively, fabrics made with fibriUated-tape yarns have better permeability and more uniform interstice openings than flat-tape products.

Flat tape, whether forced flat by mechanical constraints or held flat by gravity or good chemistry, experiences Level 2 stress and may or may not undergo Level 3 plastic deformation. We have never seen a tape that did not store residual tensile stress in the polymer matrix. This stored stress will be discussed in detail in later sections, along with methods for alleviating the stress. Plastic deformation cannot really be measured, but can be assumed when the same slip without a Type II plasticizer shows multiple Level 4 behaviors, but with the Type II plasticizer lays flat.
