A fire protection strategy serves as a bridge between the company s perceptions of fire-related risks and the details of howto manage specific risks. The fire protection strategy should be considered as the tool that defines when certain protection levels are required for a facility. The fire protection strategy should attempt to define general performance requirements or controls for specific situations. Below are examples of the types of statements that could be used in the fire protection strategy. 

The second stage of the development towards risk reduction is achieved by bringing together all areas where losses arise from accidents - whether fire, security, pollution, product liability, business interruption etc. - and co-ordinating action with the aim of reducing the loss. This risk reduction strategy is synonymous with loss control. 

The preventive strategies for reducing the risk of fire and explosion within the workplace can be equally applied across the majority of industry sectors as illustrated from the preceding section on arson prevention and control.
