Films mobility

A different aspect of preparation of an organized nanoparticles on a fluid is called as the rheotaxy technique. It is a well-established one to fabricate a well-crystallized film. Mobility of the atoms on the surface of the liquid substrate favors the aggregation of atoms in the growing films (41). In order to avoid a drawback of the rheotaxy, i.e., the negative effect of high surface tension of the substrate, a modification has been made by Romeo et al. (42,43), where they used substrates of elevated temperature close to but below their melting points. They prepared, e.g., ZnS Mn thin films on some low-melting metals such as Pb, Bi or Bi-Sb alloy. [Pg.695]

Friction was measured between 3004-H19 aluminum sheets coated with known quantities of lubricant film and clean steel balls mounted on a sled of known weight. Measurement was done at selected temperatures by moving the aluminum sheet which carried the lubricant film (mobile film), relative to steel balls mounted under a stationary sled of known weight. The apparatus, which was given the acronym MOFISS (IQ) for mobile film stationary sled, has been modified to allow for temperature control (Figure 3). [Pg.84]

More recently, Bruckenstein and Hillman have proposed a new model for the population of electroactive film mobile species (ion and solvent) under a range of thermodynamically and kinetically controlled conditions that allows the film state to be visualized in three dimensions, including E(F), q (C cm ), and A-space, where A represents the film composition and contains the concentrations of the individual mobile species populations, /j (molcm ). For a permselective film undergoing a redox process. [Pg.177]

Figure 5 shows the 3D (A, q, /s) compositional space representation of the behaviour of the electroactive film mobile species (ion and solvent). This representation has been extended to combine thermodynamic non-ideality (attractive or repulsive interaction... [Pg.178]
