Filler process

LLDPE by itself does not present any health-related hazard on account of its chemical inertness and low toxicity. Consequently, film, containers, and container Hds made from LLDPE are used on a large scale in food and dmg packaging. Some LLDPE grades produced with unsupported metallocene catalysts have an especially high purity due to high catalyst productivity and a low contamination level of resins with catalyst residue. FDA approved the use of film manufactured from these resins for food contact and for various medical appHcations (80). However, if LLDPE articles contain fillers, processing aids, or colorants, thek health factors must then be judged separately. [Pg.404]

As with almost all mbbers, the final properties are deterrnined by compounding and subsequent vulcanization or cross-linking. Various fillers, processing aids, plasticizers, tackifiers, cure systems, and antidegradants are used. [Pg.485]

At the present time, the difficulty is correlating incoming raw ingredient properties with processability. Elastomeric compounds can be considered to be made up of four components polymers, fillers, process aids, and other chemicals. [Pg.452]

PVC is regarded as perhaps the most versatile thermoplastic resin, due to its ability to accept an extremely wide variety of additives Plasticizers, stabilizers, fillers, processing aids, impact modifiers, lubricants, foaming agents, biocides, pigments, reinforcements. .. [Pg.311]

The next step is the incorporation of various additives—compounding. Typical additives include fillers, processing aids, activators, age resistors, sulfur, antioxidants, and antiozone compounds, extenders, plasticizers, blowing agents, pigments, and accelerators. [Pg.555]

For gel processing, the components, UHMWPE, optionally filler, processing oil, and lubricant are mixed. The components are preferably mixed in a continuous fashion, e.g., in a twin-screw extruder or a Brabender extruder, or a screw extruder with a blown film die. After mixing, the mixture is shaped. Shaping will depend upon the... [Pg.97]

HDPE by itself is a safe plastic material on account of its chemical inertness and lack of toxicity . Film and containers made from HDPE are used on a large scale in food and drug packaging and HDPE has been used in prosthetic devices including hip and knee joint replacements. All these applications underscore polymer safety. If articles made of HDPE contain fillers, processing aids, and colorants, their toxic effects must be estimated separately. [Pg.1143]

A better diffusion of the reactants can be obtained by using a macroporous coating as shown on Fig. 16. The binder-filler process which involves two kinds of aluminas, one of which being dispersible (Fig. 17), and the other being made of coarse grains (Fig. 18), is then especially suitable. [Pg.285]

Typical vulcanizable compounds will, in addition to the curatives, contain certain plasticizers, fillers, processing aids, pigments, etc. [Pg.2835]

Effect of Other Compounding Ingredients on Vulcanization. Other ingredients besides the elastomer and the cure system itself influence cure and scorch behavior. Usually the effect of a material on compound vulcanization is dependent upon the pH of the material. Ingredients which are basic in nature tend to accelerate the rate of both scorch and cure, whereas acidic materials exhibit the opposite effect. Reviews of the effect of antidegradants, fillers, process oils, and plasticizers are available (6,14,32,33). [Pg.7326]
