Cellulosic fillers

This includes wire enamels on a base of polyvinyl formal, polyurethane or epoxy resins as well as moulding powder plastics on phenol-formaldehyde and similar binders, with cellulose fillers, laminated plastics on paper and cotton cloth base, triacetate cellulose films, films and fibres of polyethylene terephthalate. [Pg.221]

The interaction between polymer matrix and filler leads to the formation of a bound polymer in close proximity to the reinforcing filler, which restricts the solvent uptake [13]. The composites containing acetylated cellulose fillers exhibited higher uptake of toluene compared to water in accordance with their hydrophobic nature. [Pg.129]

Among the naturally occurring filler materials are cellulosics such as wood flour, a-cellulose, shell flour, and starch, and proteinaceous fillers such as soybean residues. Approximately 40,000 t of cellulosic fillers are used annually by the U.S. polymer industry. Wood flour, which is produced by the attrition grinding of wood wastes, is used as filler for phenolic resins, urea resins, polyolefins, and PVC. Shell flour, which lacks the fibrous structure of wood flour, has been used as a replacement for wood flour for some applications. [Pg.238]

In the present survey an attempt is made to systematize and generalize data contained in technical and patent publications and relating to production of granulated materials based on urea-formaldehyde resins with cellulose filler. An outline is also made of the results of some of the investigations carried out by Soviet specialists in 1983-1986. [Pg.143]

Organic Extenders. Organic extenders are primarily of two types (1) fillers derived from organic materials and (2) low-cost, naturally occurring or synthetic resins. Of the first type, wood flour, shell flour, and other cellulosic fillers are the most common. They also provide a margin of mechanical property reinforcement because of their relatively high aspect ratio. Of the resinous types these are petroleum-based derivatives as well as soluble lignin and scrap synthetic resins. [Pg.161]

Cellulose fillers, with and without silane coupling agent treatment, have been investigated at various levels showing an increase in physical properties and viscosity (53). [Pg.21]

For a purposeful variation of the properties of compositions based on carbamide and melamine resins with cellulose fillers use is made of various agents which modify the resins. Particularly good results are attainable by using benzoguana-mine as a modifier. The content of benzoguanamine may vary from 5 to 50% [5]. [Pg.31]
