Lake area of western Labrador in 13 lung biopsy specimens showed widespread focal fibrosis, large amounts of haemosiderin and silica and many ferruginous bodies, one containing a core of antho-phyllite (Edstrom and Rice 1982). A granulomatous reaction was seen in two biopsy specimens and typical silicotic nodules were found in two others.
