Female engineers

Stereotypes about minorities and females continue to abound (as they do for white males) - sometimes to the extreme extent that people simply do not recognize females and minorities as engineers (for instance, assuming that they are administrative assistants or spouses). Minority and female engineers have been viewed as not competent, skilled, or knowledgeable enough, or as not having the intellect to complete complex tasks. The covert perception is that minorities and females are less likely to handle the pressures of complexity in their jobs than their white male counterparts. 

Diversity candidates have many employment options in today s market because many organizations are aggressively seeking diversity employees. Licensed, experienced engineers of color or female engineers are a valuable and sought-after asset. The turnover rate in people of color is greater than white males, says Valencia Faye Tate. Because there s a war for talent, folks are extended more lucrative offers. ... 

It is important to note that gender differences were found on the first version of the CEDA. Furthermore, in previous smdies of the first version of the CEDA, female engineering and male psychology smdents scored higher (Charyton et al. 2008) and female engineering smdents scored higher (Charyton and Merrill 2009). 

We also found similarities in visuahzation spatial skills between male and female engineering students (Charyton et al. 2011), unlike past studies indicating that males tended to perform better than females (Guay 1978 Kinsey et al. 2007). We found that male and female engineering smdents had similar levels of visualization spatial skills that were equivalent for engineering design abilities. 

How can we attract more young people to engineering and technology studies and how can wc attract more women also and therefore begin to redress the imbalance between male and female engineers in society ... 

Interdisciplinarity, in this particular case seen as expanding the topics of technology, therefore plays an important role both for the companies and the female engineers. 

As has already been shown for virtual teams, for example in the field of software development (Manchen Sporri 2011), it is neeessary for engineers also to apply media eompetence, to know how to communieate aeeording to the mediated situation and to develop social networks. Especially for female engineers, it may be a need, because the development of social cohesion and social exchange, that is enormously important for them, is more difficult...
