Federal Reserve

Correlation of markets for a product with external factors is a relatively quick and easy method of analysis, useful if the markets are correctable with factors such as population, gross national product (GNP), Federal Reserve Board (FRB), index, etc. 

Cold-hammering was used in the late Stone Age to produce plates of gold for ornamental purposes, and this metal has always been synonymous with beauty, wealth and power. Considerable quantities were accumulated by ancient peoples. The coffin of Tutankhamun (a minor Pharaoh who was only 18 when he died) contained no less than 112 kg of gold, and the legendary Aztec and Inca hoards in Mexico and Peru were a major reason for the Spanish conquests of Central and South America in the early sixteenth century. Today, the greatest hoard of gold is the 30000 tonnes of bullion (i.e. bars) lying in the vaults of the US Federal Reserve Bank...

Even in stories in which a mad or criminal scientist uses atomic technologies to transmute gold into a virtually worthless metal, it is ultimately another scientist who, working with the federal government (or more specifically, with the Federal Reserve), saves the day for the United States.

A group of modem U.S. Federal Reserve notes was analyzed to demonstrate the feasibility of determining which elements are in the black ink, which are in the green inks, and which are in the paper. 

Other elements, including copper and arsenic, were observed near the green Treasury Department and the black Federal Reserve Bank Seals on the front of the notes. These areas were measured carefully, rubbed, remeasured, and recorded.

Arsenic appeared only on the Federal Reserve Bank Seal. Seals on 5, 10, and 50 denominations were not analyzed. 

Manganese was found in all green inks on the back of notes except for the 10 issue. It was found on the Treasury Department Seal and the Federal Reserve Bank Seal of the 10 issue.

In 1996, the government decided to end this program. Helium was no longer regarded as essential to national security. The Bureau of Mines began to sell off the federal reserves.
