Fabric transport

Provisions for reduced capital and construction costs, such as design standardisation, option of factory fabrication, transportability etc... [Pg.122]

Factory fabrication, transportability, and modular assembly at the site... [Pg.592]

If metal is chosen as the material of construction, the next choice is whether to make the construction bolted or welded. The primary factors to consider here are ease of fabrication, transportation and installation. Generally, a welded structure is best if it is of a size that can be shop fabricated and then lifted into place with a crane. For larger vessels that must be field welded, bolted construction is generally less expensive than welded, although it is usually not as robust because stress concentrations of bolted joints tend to weaken the structure, and there is the possibility of leakage whenever gaskets are used. [Pg.92]

Obviously, the least intrinsically protected nuclear fuel cycle stages of the nuclear system with the BMN-170, namely, factories for fuel assembly fabrication, transportation and storage of fresh fuel assemblies, require intensified measures of accounting, monitoring, physical protection and national and international verifications, even with an account of the properties of the dirty fuel used. [Pg.591]

Obviously, the least intrinsically protected stages of the RBEC-M fuel cycle, namely, fabrication, transport and storage of fresh fuel assemblies, would demand strengthened measures of accounting and verification, even in view of fuel being contaminated by fission products. [Pg.631]

The high decay heat and radioactivity of MA-bearing fuel have a large influence on the fuel fabrication, transportation, and handling, which gives many development challenges to the fuel cycle system. [Pg.107]

Possess good resistance to abrasion and good adhesion to withstand fabrication, transportation, and erection. [Pg.358]

Materials selection is especially important wherever critical components are used. Also important is the need for correct procedures at all stages of operation, including fabrication, transport, startup, shutdown, and normal operation. Less obvious cases of failure can arise from vibration transfer, poor surface finish, nonuniform application of surface coatings, or the plication of coatings to poorly prepared surfaces. [Pg.193]

The template will be constructed and fitted out at a fabrication yard and then transported offshore to the drilling location. The template is lowered to the seabed using a crane barge or, if small enough, lowered beneath a semi-submersible rig. Prior to drilling the first well, piles are driven into the sea bed to hold the template in place. [Pg.269]

STAC, with their current new design (pool reactor), feel the only size limitation will be vessel size. Unless both the vessel fabricator and the intended plant site are "on water", a 4-m-diameter is the maximum that can be transported. [Pg.300]

The performance of a textile fabric is characterized by terms such as strength, hand, drape, flexibiUty, moisture transport, and wrinkle resistance. Although the interactions among fibers in a fabric array are complex, its properties reflect in part the inherent properties of the fiber as well as how the fibers are assembled. [Pg.290]

Particle Size Reduction. Changes in the physical characteristics of a biomass feedstock often are requited before it can be used as a fuel. Particle size reduction (qv) is performed to prepare the material for direct fuel use, for fabrication into fuel pellets, or for a conversion process. Particle size of the biomass also is reduced to reduce its storage volume, to transport the material as a slurry or pneumatically, or to faciHtate separation of the components. [Pg.16]

In preparation of permselective hoUow-fiber membranes, morphology must be controUed to obtain desired mechanical and transport properties. Fiber fabrication is performed without a casting surface. Therefore, in the moving, unsupported thread line, the nascent hoUow-fiber membrane must estabUsh mechanical integrity in a very short time. [Pg.147]

The fabric may also be given one or more of a number of other finishing treatments, either ia tandem with web formation and bonding or off-line as a separate operation, as a means of enhancing fabric performance or aesthetic properties. Performance properties iaclude functional characteristics such as moisture transport, absorbency, or repeUency flame retardancy electrical conductivity or static propensity abrasion resistance and frictional behavior. Aesthetic properties iaclude appearance, surface texture, and smell. [Pg.155]

Specific terms have been designated according to the function and composition of various roUs. Steel roUs that impose pressure, transmit heat, and emboss a pattern onto the fabric are known as pattern roUs. Flexible surface roUs that transport the fabric and permit pressure transmission to the fabric are termed bowl roUs or bowls. Bowl roUs are usually larger in diameter than pattern roUs. The material used to make these types of roUs is chosen according to the depth of surface smoothness to be placed on the fabric being calendered, and must be compatible with the pattern roU. Cellulose pulp, cotton, wool, cotton—wool mixtures, com husk, and various polymer materials are used as fillers for the roU surface compound. [Pg.156]
