Polypropylene fabric, impregnated

Additional developments in fibrillated polypropylene composites were reported by Xu, Hannant and co-workers [8,21], who applied a fibrillated polypropylene network in the form of layered opened nets (12 net layers in [21 ]), with the majority in the longitudinal direction and the rest in transverse orientation, and impregnated them by hand, or by a special mechanized system developed for that purpose [8]. These systems could be fabricated from polypropylene only, or from a hybrid of polypropylene nets combined with glass fabrics and chopped glass fibres. Flat thin sheets, as well as corrugated ones could be produced [8j. [Pg.533]

Towflex (Hexcel Composites) is based on carbon, glass or aramid fibres impregnated with polypropylene, polyamide, PPS, polyetherimide, PEEK. Product forms include flexible Towpreg, woven fabric, braided sleeving, UD tape, chopped compression moulding compound, moulded plates, thermoformable laminates. [Pg.815]

SUPreM, Plytron, Quadrax (Gurit Suprem) consolidated tapes or fabrics are made from continuous fibres impregnated with thermoplastic powder. The fibres can be glass, aramid, carbon, steel and the matrices are polyethylene, polypropylene, polyamide, PPS, polyetherimide, PEEK, thermoplastic polyimide, or fluorothermo-plastic. High levels of fibres can be obtained, 65% in volume, for example. [Pg.816]

This chapter reports the study of the chemical composition of the polysulfide fraction in dicyclopentadiene and styrene modified materials, the mechanical properties of modified materials, and their use in the preparation of composite materials by the impregnation of polypropylene and glass-fiber fabrics. [Pg.22]

Increases in the UTS of the polypropylene fabric by impregnation with sulfur materials ranged from 24 to 87% the highest increases were obtained with dicyclopentadiene-modified sulfur materials. Merely heat-... [Pg.34]

In conclusion, both woven polypropylene and glass-fiber fabric each give strong, flexible weatherproof sheet materials when impregnated by sulfur modified by myrcene, alloocimene, or cycloocta-1,3-diene. Typical applications for this type of material are in the fields of civil engineering... [Pg.35]

Utilizing the properties of copper, two durable platform technologies woe developed [1,13] the first one plates cotton fibres with copper oxide (Fig 1, left panel) and the second one impregnates polyester, polypropylene, polyethylene, polyur hane, polyolefin or nylon fibres with copper oxide (Fig 1, ri t panel). The fibres can be cut into short staple or produced in filament form and texturized, if so desired. The product yielded is a fibre that can be introduced at the blendii stage of yam production or directly into a woven or knit product so that no manufacturing processes are changed. Woven and non-woven fabrics can be produced. [Pg.15]

The polydyes were generally soluble in dipolar aprotic liquids such as HMPA, DMF, DMSO, and TEP. Polydye solutions were used to impregnate a number of items including plastics (polyethylene, polycarbonate, polypropylene, poly(vinyl chloride), polystyrene, nylon 6,6, and SAN), cloth (cotton, denim, and 50-50% polyester fabric), paper, films, and coatings. [Pg.79]
